Road Helmets, Hot Weather and Sweat
Moderator: robbosmans
Frustrated. Any suggestions on a helmet that doesnt hold a ton of sweat in the pads? Am I asking too much?
My current pile...
Kask Mojito - comfortable, but the padding holds so much fluid, it's constantly running down my eyeglass lens.
Giro Synthe - I have two of these... the single brow pad is not enough, and on both, the velcro dots that hold the brow pad have fallen off in short time. I find I can old use the synthe in cooler conditions and I wear a cap under.
Lazer Z1 - uncomfortable... truly hate the fit. Irritates my forehead.
Spec. Prevail. - padding has been quite durable, but also holds too much fluid and different from my Mojito, it streams down into my eyes.
So whats left? Kask Protone? Catlike? POC Octal? Rudy?
Meh... any thoughts from the Weenie Intelligencia collective?

Bell Z20. The brow-pad extends out under the shell so when you're in a riding position the sweat drips in front of your sunglasses and not onto them. If you fit a Synthe, you should fit the Z20 too.

I always wear a skull cap/head scarf thingy. It blocks the wind a little but I'm cool so that's all right.
I also see riders with head bands, which seem to work for them.

I've tried a Halo headband which has a rubber/silicone wicker that supposedly keeps sweat to the sides of the face. After 20 minutes of hard climbing in hot temps, it saturates and becomes fairly useless unless your wring it out.
That is indeed a thoughtful design. The Bell is definitely on the list.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Sun Jun 03, 2018 1:33 amBell Z20. I should of added I'm not a fan of of holding in the heat with cycling caps in hot weather. Though back in the day we used to cut the tops off them Tafi style.
Thanks everyone for the replies. Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the POC

Yep, me
I like the POC Octal for a number of reasons...main one safety...
And...The sweat drips off the front and doesn't dribble into my eyes,
The padding does retain sweat but doesn't seem as bad as other helmets I've used...also it comes with a spare set of padding

The Protone blows for sweat retention.
Easily the best I’ve tried is the new Evade II and Met Trenta 3K
