This current Venge is an amazing bike. I had a 2015 venge before this bike + SL4 and SL5 Tarmac and this Venge is light years ahead of those bikes.

I also think its been a really good seller for them, so to cancel it after 2 or so years does not make sense. The VIAS was a let down but they redeemed themselves with this bike

I dont understand why any manufacturer would choose to give them one less bike to push or market. This hardly seems like the era of anyone getting rid of the dedicated aero bike in their lineup.

I also keep seeing people make reference to the difference in handling between the Tarmac and Venge. I find this interesting given the bikes have the same CS length, wheelbase, STA, HTA and trail. Guess I'll find out for myself when I get the Venge built :)

Talking to my local Specialized rep and he is currently telling LBS' that the venge is discontinued. there will be no 2021 model. the upcoming SL7 tarmac (the pics that leaked) is so close aero wise, and light weight enough that the venge is simply not needed anymore. interesting if what he is saying is true.

I'm personally dissapointed as I think the current venge is one of the best looking bikes on the market today. Was hoping they would of found someway to make it even more light weight and bump it up to fact12 or something of sorts.

I heard the same thing from my local Spesh rep.

I disagree because if you really think about, while the Roubaix, Tarmac and Venge are taking elements from one another, there are enough differences to justify having them around.

Even though the Roubaix team is supposedly more aero than a tarmac, it's always gonna be a comfort bike with the future shock.

The Tarmac will get close to being as aero as a Venge, but it bread and butter is it's lightweight climbing ability and handling.

Yes the Venge could get as light as the Tarmac, but people leave out the handling and snappy feeling of the Tarmac.

With the Venge, while I see them putting rear complaince from the Roubaix, this is the Bike that allows Spesh to compete with other aero bikes.

Trying to get rid of it and using a Tarmac....I feel Spesh would have to sacrifice other areas that make the Tarmac great, or just give up on competing in that category (aero).
I could see Spesh discontinue the Tarmac but not the venge. They would be giving up on their aeroiseverything mojo.

If Tarmac and Venge get closer in terms of aero and weight, they should keep the venge but make it an all out race bike option with a long and low geometry. All those new gen bikes seem to get closer in geometry, trending to a more relaxed fit. Like Trek dropping the H1 version or Cannondales Supersix becoming shorter and higher.
Probably not gonna happen though and we have to keep messing with stupid long -17° stems.

Hello, does anyone here know which excactly through axle adapter for taxc is suitable for the venge? Recently bought a taxc booster second hand, with a through axle that was fitting to a trek madone but does not seem to be suitable for the venge, so which should I order? Thank you in advance.

Which Tacx trainer do you have? Specialized uses Syntace/X-12, meaning it has a 1mm thread pitch. Trek uses ABP/Maxle with a 1.75mm thread pitch.

Taxc booster, it is a regular trainer, not a direct mount one, and the problem is that they have 5 different options for through axle adaptors and I am too stupid to figure it out

Thank you, that is very helpful, so I am guessing that I need the M12x1.0 then.

I've owned an SL6 disc and been on the new Venge- they handle quite same to one another. Shine at speed, very quick to react (esp. at slow speeds), I was very surprised at how compliant the venge was for a premier aero bike (comparing to Foil and S5).

Geo is not the only thing that effects handling... tube shape and carbon layup does too. Generally speaking, the tube shapes of aero bikes can sometimes have more side to side flex compared to bikes with more round tube profiles, while being less vertically compliant. So, an aero bike can feel softer and maybe not quite as poppy when sprinting or climbing, but harsher when hitting bumps. I've ridden a 1st gen. Venge, BMC TMR01, Scott Foil and would all say they sort of exhibit those qualities to varying degrees compared to the tarmac SL5 I'm on now. My team mate went from a 1st gen. Venge to a new Venge and he says the bike feels amazing, like they kept all of the great things about his bike and made the weak points better.

You just described ride quality, not handling. Having owned and ridden plenty of aero bikes, I definitely dont agree that tube shapes and carbon layup will affect handling - unless you're talking about overkill HT stiffness (ala SL4).

I'm using the Tacx T1711 thru axle on my Tacx Bushido. I had to cut a bit off the nylon lock nut to get the clamp to open wide enough. Also put a thin metal washer on to stop the fine tread from protruding and getting damaged.

right, but in some cases, I think people feel those ride quality differences, particularly the side to side flex, when they're leaning the bike in for a turn. I can't say that I agree with them, but that's what I think they're feeling. I have a lot of time on both my Venge and Tarmac and I feel like the bikes handle pretty similar, at least to a degree that is not perceptible to me. There are definitely ride quality comfort differences, between the two bikes and I feel those, but I've not noticed anything that makes me say one is more confidence inspiring than the other when railing turns.

I've been meaning to post my build as it's fairly WW given the venge limitations.

I plan to go full DA when/if the new group ever gets released. For now 2019 Venge Pro, changes from stock:

56cm
MCFK rims, 45 front/55 rear
Berd Spokes
DT Swiss 180 hubs
Specialized S-Works power cranks 172.5
Stronglight Chainrings 53/36
Dura-Ace Pedals
Dura Ace Rotors (this was as much for aesthetic as weight)
Dura Ace Cassette 11-30
PYL SP1101 chain
S-Works Power Saddle
Arundel Mandible cages
S-Works turbo tubeless tires 26c tubeless with probably too much sealant.

Yes, thank you, that's the one. I am trying to find it, but I have only found a similar fit from a kinetic available at the moment so far, wondering if it is suitable, we'll see...
