The clx64 on venge work fine but it is tough on long climb. Probably need to invest in a pair of clx50 and it doesn’t look out of place on a venge for sure.jhalmar wrote:^^ My Roval CLX50discs are 1416g with tubeless tape and valves so you really need a light set to save weight.

I installed Aerofly II bars on my tarmac with an F3 cycling mount. It was a major pain to set up - make sure you read ALL the instructions and grease the bolts, and even buy the brace to help with the install. I am debating whether I should try the Conti 5000 TL 28mm on my CLX50 (currently have the 25mm and really like them). Any thoughts re shape, tyre and rim interface? Main reason to increase comfort and grip (which is already quite good) on the broken UK roads. Thanks
The Roval CLX50 wheels are sort of an anomaly. Their weight of 1415 grams according to Roval/Specialized is very similar to what you could build up a custom Enve 4.5 RIMS, Extralite hubs, and 44 spokes. I calculate about a 40 gram difference. Not much. The Enve 4.5AR wheelset are extremely heavy for some reason. Not sure why the AR designation adds an extra 200 grams. So throw them out of this discussion. Enve 4.5 rims are 49 and 55mm. But Venge bikes from Specialized come with Roval CLX64 wheels. 64 wheels, not the 50 wheels everyone here is talking about. The factory Roval CLX64 wheels are 1615 grams and 64mm depth. I think the Enve 5.6 wheels/rims are the best comparison to the Roval 64. Enve 5.6 rims are 54 and 63mm. Compared to the Roval 64 being 64mm. Comparable. Enve 5.6 wheelset is 1553 grams. So savings of 62 grams over the Roval CLX64. Two ounces. Not a lot. BUT, if you go through the cost and effort of building custom wheels with the 54 and 63mm Enve 5.6 RIMS, and Enve hubs, and 44 spokes, you can get to 1412 grams. About 200 grams lighter than the comparable Roval CLX64 wheelset. There are more than a few people on this forum who would slit your mommas throat to save 200 grams. Seven ounces. Of rotating weight as some love to point out.
My 4.5AR is 1.5kg with Industry Nine Torch Road Classic CL hubs and CX-Ray spokes. 1.53 incl. valves and tape. It's wider and more spokes than CLX50, that's why the weight gain.

The AR in the 4.5AR means "All-Road" they're a gravel/mixed terrain use wheel designed for wider tires and I believe with an slightly higher spoke count. If you're riding strictly road, they're probably overkill, but if you're doing anything that involves mixed then they're probably a good choice.
Not all of the Venge models come with the 64's... this used to be the case, but I've seen a few at my LBS that had the 50's straight out of the box. I'm not sure if this is some sort of option that shops can choose when ordering stock bikes. You haven't tried one with CLX32 I guess, I got a pair and it's super fun Used CLX64 for a TT a couple of days ago and sure they are faster but as snappy as the 32s are the bike get's so agile. And great for climbing too

Hello, quick question: I have a Venge and when it came home from the shop it has 1 cm of spacers as I requested. One of them was the one with an opening, that you can remove without re-cabling the brake hoses. I have since removed it.
The other 0.5 cm spacer is not like that, and cannot be removed unless the cables are re-done or the spacer is broken.
Is there any reason for that? In other words, is that 0.5 cm spacer mandatory for structural reasons?
