My 2019 Tarmac Disc Expert - also dragged a bit at the rotor. Just took it in for the complimentary 45 tune, mentioned the problem. Mechanic noted that some of the on the new calipers, the pistons can get stuck out a bit after hard braking efforts. It’s raining so we’ll see in a few days time if they were able to address it. I’ve upped my out of the saddle climbing training, so I should notice first ride next week! (Roval c38 wheels).

I have to confess that this problem is putting me off a bit. I am planning to buy a Venge soon (with DA Di2) but I am not too sure now. My current bike (S2 with 303 FC) does not run at all. Zero. Too many cases of disc rubbing. If it were just one then fine, most likely a set up problem. Does not inspire me with confidence :-/

if you spend sometime and set it up well, I think it can a long way to minimize rub. If you have no patience or know how you might wanna wait until they improve. I'm in the no patience end of the spectrum myself but I manage just fine with 5 wheelsets with 4 differnt brands of hubs.

I would be keeping the same wheels on the Venge (CLX50), no swapping.

Do we know when the latest / current model will go on sale in the UK? Will it even ever be put on sale if it sells so well actually? I am interested in either buying the S Works frameset alone or the Pro complete bike.

Unlikely it'll go on sale. They've just recently put the frameset price up. Was £3,500, now £3,700. I was lucky enough to find Sigma sport doing £350 off new frames in november last year so managed to get mine for £3,150.

I don't know what the UK market is like, but in the US, I'd say there's no chance of the new Venge going on 'sale' until the next one is announced, which you can expect in 3 years time, based on the normal refresh rate from Specialized.

Cyclestore was cheapest around Europe when I was pricing frameset - discount plus included parts to % of total cost of frame.

Thanks.

Which groupset do you think goes better with the Venge? eTap or DA Di2? eTap is £400 cheaper than DA Di2 (eTap £1,300. Di2 £1,700). I like both from an ergonomic point of view.

Since that eTap is likely.. 11spd version are we dont know the details( i dont anyways) about compatibility with upcoming 12sp... I'd opt for Di2.

Add back around 200g if you ride clinchers? Sounds about right.

Are specialized likely to release an expert or comp level Venge next year or will it stay with only electronic shifting at s-works and pro levels?

The current frame can't take mechanical derailleur cable. If a 10r/9r or Comp/Expert version is to be released, it would need another design of the heatube/stem and probably lose the fully integrated cable routing.
