Rca WW Build.
Yep, I didn't make that clear about using a top cap when pre loading - now edited my long post. Also different expanders and top caps are different sizes, so I find I have to use a spacer under the top cap when pre loading with my fat expander.
I run a 1.5g (Veloflyte) carbon top cap and carbon bolt - those things are going to be fragile! So I use chunky metal alternatives I have laying around to pre load.

If the top cap is just cosmetic then why use a bolt and cap at all? A plastic snap on lid might be enough to keep the sweat from entering, no?
I used to ride without top cap and compression plug. Now I just use one of those 7gr compression plugs to shut up everyone commenting on it.

Hence a Schmolke cap for me. Do what you like!alcatraz wrote:If the top cap is just cosmetic then why use a bolt and cap at all? A plastic snap on lid might be enough to keep the sweat from entering, no?

True. I think those Schmolke ones look pretty good and give your steerer some protection unlike just a cover.alcatraz wrote: ↑Mon May 28, 2018 3:27 pmIf the top cap is just cosmetic then why use a bolt and cap at all? A plastic snap on lid might be enough to keep the sweat from entering, no?

I guess the only downside is that even really light weight cap/bolt combos do give you some opportunity to adjust during a ride if needed - although I'm sure it wouldn't stop you getting home either way.
The build is finished and it comes in at 12.02 lbs(5.452kg). I going to change chainring bolts and probably the seatpost clamp to get it into the 11lb range and be satisfied.
The Turbo Cotton's are 26mm and are slightly bulbous on Meilenstein's. What tires are as light but a better fit?
