Moderator: robbosmans
What do you guys do after an extremely wet ride?
Got completely soaked, shoes filled with rain, water actually came out of our bib shorts when we sat down for breakfast.......anything you guys do after getting caught out in the rain?
1) nice hot shower
2) rinse sand/grim off the shorts and jerseys
3) might as well wash quick wash the shoes.....drying is the hard part
4) rinse bike, clean drivetrain, after chain drys, relube, clean the alloy rim surface of wheels and brake pads
5) bartape??? what to do with handlebar area? it was completely soaked....

After you rinse the mud/grit off your bike, always wipe away excess moisture with rags/towels. Spray WD40 on the heads of bolts/fasteners to get the last bit of water out.
No point in using wd40, it attracts water and won't prevent from rusting (bit of spraywax once in a while would be a better idea).
Pulling the seatpost after washing the bike is a good idea to let the water damp escape.

op, you have some of the correcr steps, but in the wrong order...
1 hose down bike
2 wipe dry
3 check tyres for cuts
4 get changed
5 wash stuff
some frames let water accumulate in the bb shell, try tipping the bike up/over and see if water drains out
if the bartape is absorbing water, i'd get rid of it and fit one that doesn't!

Have a sacrificial rain day bike .. which am moving out. #2/3 now will get the wax.

Yup. Leave the newspaper in there for about an hour to get out most of the water than put them on a Peet boot dryer over night and they will be completely dry in the morning.
