Ceramic Speed Oversized Pulleys.
Moderator: robbosmans
Picked up a used unit recently and the LBS is installing it. The head tech spun the top pulley and it seemed like it kept going for about 20 seconds(he was impressed to say the least). Thinking of procuring the associated BB.

Yeah spinning bearings with no load is fun. Too bad you have to add load and power to go forward.

And if what it is makes you smile - and a free spinning drivetrain definitely makes me smile - then what else are you supposed to spend your spare cash on?
If it saves you a watt or two as well it's just a bonus
I'll test your theory if you pay for the divorce attorney.

Ceramic speed has never done it for me. Their stuff wears out and gets crunchy. Pull out plenty of their parts far sooner then the customer expected. Hawk racing bb has been the longest lasting, smoothest, maintenance fee bb I have ever used. For a fraction of the price.
I believe ceramicspeed boast a great warranty, but it's somewhat expected given the significant asking price compared to their competitors in this space.
I am not sure I have seen the ROI on the cermaic speed jockey wheels. Folks can spend their hard earned money however they wish, but $500US to $1700US for their oversized pulley systems with debatable gains is a bridge too far for me. As others have said, watching a drivetrain spin without load doesnt really mean much.
I recently broke down and purchased a ceramic bottom bracket - BB86 to BB30 - because there were few aftermarket options that werent ceramic. Even with a discount, I still opted for Kogel over ceramicspeed because I couldnt justify the price difference.

The LBS tech said Kogel is warranted for two years if you have it serviced in the first year at an authorized service center. Have you compared it to the Ceramic Speed?Seedster wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 11:07 pmI believe ceramicspeed boast a great warranty, but it's somewhat expected given the significant asking price compared to their competitors in this space.
