Hey guys,
I've been looking both in here and on google for info about how to replace bearings on a DtSwiss hub (LW) but I can't find any information.
If anyone had any info kindly share with me, thanks.

Hub or freehub? The hub uses dt tools, I don't know that the freehub bearings are replaceable.

Freehub bearings are replaceable - here is some info of a Giant hub ( same as DT swiss )

http://forums.roadbikereview.com/giant/ ... 63329.html

If you have a LW DT Swiss hub it has other bearings. I wrote about them as I've got the same bearings on my DT Swiss Special Ed. wheelset. Those are ceramic bearings with other dimensions.

I did shave off another 10 grams with the drilled DT Swiss Light Shimano Body with ceramic Japanese ijk bearings. 6702RS bearings on the new body instead of the 6802RS bearings on the old one - DT240S Freehub. Here is a link for the Lightweight Freehub - it says Ceramic speed bearings - but if you look close - it says Japan on the bearing seal :|

I will post photos in a day or two of an old DT Swiss 11 speed freewheel hub I cut in half to figure out how to remove the bearings. They very easy to remove. I cleaned and removed the seals (no riding in the rain).

i did mine... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=145442&hilit=freehub

the freehub on most is the 240, but obermayers use the 190 which has different bearings (these are the ones in my post)

the instructions in the dts manual are good

The 11 speed freehub will definitely fit 180 and 190 hubs and I'm reasonably sure it includes the 240 hub. To remove the freehub bearings do the following:
Place the freehub on its end on a wooden bench or similar.
Insert a punch down through the upper bearing and seat it on the edge of the inner race of the lower bearing.
Use the punch to push back the metal axle sleeve that sits between the two bearings so the punch will sit on the edge of the inner race.
Gently tap the bearing moving the punch around the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions (the bearing will pop out reasonably easy).
Remove the bearing and the inner metal axle sleeve and flip the freehub over.
The other bearing can be tapped out using a small dimeter round socket or similar.
To reinstall the bearings I use a bottom bracket press tool but you could use the round socket to gently tap them back in
REMEMBER YOU ONLY NEED TO GENTLY TAP THE BEARING

yes the 240 freehub is interchangeable, it weighs a bit more but it has stronger bearings

you can also get the lw branded versions direct from their online store... https://shop.lightweight.info/en/Accessories/

but swapping the bearings is much much cheaper than a complete new freehub!

I would certainly hope so considering you cut the freehub in half. :beerchug:

These should be the right ones for DT240 freehubs. The manual is kinda poor at stating which size is for the freehub itself:

Save yourself a lot of stress and buy legit bearing tools. I bought the cheaper kit from eBay, and they were made by someone with a metal lathe and zero knowledge of the term tolerance. They pressed things in so jacked up that I took them to a friend that has a machine shop and he compared them to the online specs and the cheap eBay kit was off by as much as 1.5mm in some places. For a few bucks, he machined them to spec.

This is the pic of the bearings and other stuff in the hub.

In order... 6802, C-clip, ALU spacer, 6902.

DO watch out for the C-Clip as it is quite difficult to remove it. You will definitely need a C-Clip piler.

I have since replace the bearing with NTN LLB.
