My Campagnolo Chorus 11 cranks (2016) need new bearings. Can I replace with the USB ones from the Record version?

You could even upgrade to the CULT (ceramic) bearings from the Super Record crankset if you were so inclined.

If you decide to go aftermarket, make sure you get 6805N bearings. The "N", for Narrow, is important. There is also a 6805 bearing that is wider by a millimeter, which won't fit. Dimensions of the 6805N bearing are: 25mm (ID) x 37mm (OD) x 6mm (Width).

Why, yes, I am fun at parties. Why do you ask? :smartass:

@ManekiNico. Very good point. The ā€œNā€ distinction is critical if you do go after market.
But the way, party at my house this weekend. You are invited. Whuhoo!

Hi, thanks for the replies. I was planning on just getting the standard Record ones, I'm assuming you can just order them via your LBS. I thought the CULT ones were only worth it if you were running the ceramic races as well? I love the CULT ones as they've been brilliant on my Super Record chainset and still look great. I figured the USB ones would be a good choice because they've work well in my Shamal wheels. Does anyone know how much the bearing sets cost?

I think the usb bearings are pointless. You have to use grease rather than light oil because the race are plain old steel. Wear will kill them so they need maintenance. On the other hand the cult bearings use a hardened stainless race so no corrosion barrier is needed so they run on light oil only. The wear rate is much slower too. Ceramic races are prone to cracking so campagnolo wisely have not used them.

You need to be careful with 3rd party bearings - you give the nominal sizing but not the tolerances & the tolerances matter in any interference fit scenario.
We've seen all sorts of problems with 3rd party bearings where the tolerances were wrong ...
