BMC just launched it's new Roadmachine ALR series with....the old 105 5800 groupset.
I would expect that at least the big manufacturers have a few new R7000 groupsets available....

Par for the course with Shimano these days. World Tour teams didn’t even have full 9100 groups at the start of last season. Retail bikes with R8000 weren’t readily available until last winter.
The original press release in april was a paper launch. Availablility was supposed to be mid-june

DOnt suppose anyone has any idea about compatability to the older 5800 stuff?
Specifically will I be able to buy just the Hydraulic shifters to replace the horrible 505 Shifters that are on my winter bike and keep all the older perfectly functioning 5800 groupset thats on it atm.
And for the record Sigma Sport is listing the Disc Groupset parts on their site but dont have stock just an expected date of 1st Aug 2018

Leverage ratios are the same so shifting is fine.chunky666 wrote:DOnt suppose anyone has any idea about compatability to the older 5800 stuff?

You will probably have to buy the hoods and calipers as a unit so any hydraulic hose differences wont be an issue. You might have to get a post to flat mount adapter depending on your frame.

From SRAM Flat Mount brakes are here - BikeRadar USA that article, in the first (non bold) paragraph, it states
"While Flat Mount frames can mount standard brakes with adapters, Flat Mount calipers are not backwards compatible with existing IS and post-mount frames."

In that case, op will just have to swap hoses and have some flat mount calipers to flick (assuming his frame is post mount).joeg26er wrote:From SRAM Flat Mount brakes are here - BikeRadar USA that article, in the first (non bold) paragraph, it states

Perfect thank you. My bikes post mount for the brakes so may need to have a look at what the cable fittings are like as see if I can use the ones already on the bike.Stitchking wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 11:24 pmLeverage ratios are the same so shifting is fine.chunky666 wrote:DOnt suppose anyone has any idea about compatability to the older 5800 stuff?

Also looking forward to see what the 'short reach' ones are like for the girlfriend as they may be perfect for building her a disc winter bike.
