Look at the lines on that cranks; looks like it is made for a city bike.
It is made for a city bike. U5000 Metrea is an urban flatbar groupset.

Quick news video about the new 105 from GCN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4a-rc_GmQQ&t=0s

Now we won't be able to tell the difference between DA and 105 :P.

Until a few years ago, I never thought I would say this of a Shimano groupset but: it looks nice and appealing (as well as Ultegra R8000 and latest Dura-Ace).

I got all excited for my GF then with the prospect of a 'small hands' Shifter but then read it more thoroughly only to see its for the Hydro version only and not the mechanical rim version. :(

Looks great. 105 level disc bikes have been a sore spot with RS505 levers. They’ve dealt with that and given R7000 feature parity with R8000. Really a no-brainer if you’re looking for a $1500 bike.

With 105 Hydraulic DB confirmed, does it mean DB is in full speed to spread in 2018?

I’d say 2019 as this will be huge in OEM next year.

It's less "excited for what I'm/ they're going to buy" and more "interesting to see the improvements coming to mainstream bikes", which for some may bleed over into better rain/ beater/ commuter bikes. Or at least cheaper replacement parts for certain items.

And then, as mentioned, it carries implications for the pricing and availability of hydro discs.

It's sorta like saying "wow, that new Civic hatch looks kinda cool" when you drive a GX460. It's still academically interesting, even if you aren't going to buy it.

You need to know about the bottom line to be able to appreciate the top line. Simple human behavior and market/sales principle.

Hydro 105 is going to be on a ton of gravel bikes next year at very N+1 friendly price points.

Someone made the same comment a year ago when new ultegra 8000 was announced

True this forum is probably not the target market for 105 but never the less interesting to see trickle down tech into mainstream.

I have 9100 and 9000 on my bikes. But I might consider a 105 or ultegra disc brake build to see what all the hubbub is about without plunking down the cash on a dura ace setup.
