Shimano’s New 2019 105 Road Components Go Disc, Broaden Gear Ranges, Refine Ergonomics

Employing the latest technology from DURA-ACE R9100 and ULTEGRA road components, Shimano 105 R7000 delivers added versatility and improved ride performance for a wide spectrum or road cyclists. Featuring refined ergonomics, ST-R7000 shift levers match the slim look and feel of Ultegra R8000 and R8020 while the addition of the RD-R7000-GS derailleur and 11-34T cassette expand gear ranges. This looks really good. The gap between 105/ultegra has always been small. That explains why Trek put a heavier fork on their 105 Emonda SL5, have to differentiate them somehow.

Looks great, except I wish they offered a sub-compact (48/32, or even 46/30) crank option as well.

But not in the 105 series; the U5000 cranks wouldn't match aesthetically.

There‘s the newish RS770 hubs which are Ultegra level, although it‘s strange that those are off-group and a non-matching (although nice) design, while the 105 gets on-group hubs. I guess there‘s no point in trying to understand Shimano‘s „strategy“ here...

12mm rs770 disc hubs are replacing cx70 qr road disc hubs
12mm 105 disc hubs are replacing rs505 qr road disc hubs

it's black and silver, how it wouldn't match? and 105 offered in 2 colors, one of them will match

Look at the lines on those cranks; looks like it is made for a city bike. But to each their own; I would rather use a Praxis Zayante or something. Not the end of the world.
