Are hollowgram sisl2 cranks prone to creaking?

I have a supersix himod 2017 bike with PF30A BB. I'm thinking about switching from my shimano crankset to hollowgram sisl2 + p2m + praxis rings. I checked out the manual and it's plausible that I need several spacers, washers to install the crankset. Do you guys have any experience with this crankset? Is it prone to creaking or it's fine? Is the very narrow q-factor noticable coming from a shimano crankset?

I'm also a bit lost that I can't find any after market PF30A BBs. I think c-bear makes one, but that's all I found. Anybody has a favorite setup?

Aren't pf30 bottom brackets compatible with pf30a frames?

It's just 5mm differnce. The same difference MTB bikes already have in their shell for standard PF30.

PF30A road and PF30 MTB. What's the difference? Maybe someone can help confirm.

I have the SiSL2 on my 2014 Super Six Black Inc. w/BB30, no issues, never makes any noise. I think putting it all together is key, finding someone with experience working on installing this crankset/BB will be helpful so that you don't have to pull it apart after install. Good luck!

No. They were prone to coming unglued though. It might be fixed. I went from DA to sl for the weight savings but noticed nothing other than slightly less perfect front shifting. Its still good, but DA cranks with Di2 is unbelievably good.

Creaking can be prevented by putting loctite on the spider interface and threads.

Breaking, cracking and/or coming apart is another story. Buy one under warranty and you may get a new one each year, which is a plus. I wouldn't touch one used.

I got an sisl2 10arm opi 50/34 used for peanuts. 180usd.

It just got damaged threads on the arms so I gotta use a 3-arm crank puller to take it apart.

My theory is that if you weigh 60-65kg then the sisl2 will hold up fine. If you buy them used and they aren't cracked with the previous owner weighing more than you, that's your insurance.

I had the same issue with my 16 HIMOD and it was driving me crazy. I ended up changing out my bottom bracket with a BBinfinite bottom bracket and it all went away. I didnt install it myself though as I dont have the tools.

I got a secondhand one from an unknown seller and you guys are freaking me out with the cracking...

About 3000km on it so far and no issues yet. Just moved it to a new bike and no creaks, noises, play or anything of the sort, at least yet. Don't have the spidering but I would sure love one, however the 300€ for the 40g weight savings sure stings. I love the way the praxis rings shift, too. They might not be DA/DI2 smooth, but I come from a titanium RED FD with FSA rings and MAN has RED22+praxis been an improvement!

I've never seen an SISL2 come back through our shop for a warranty, and we sell a LOT of Cannondale. That's not to say they don't ever break, but hell - a quick Google search can find you plenty of images of cracked or debonded Shimano Ultegra / DA cranks, but I've never seen one of those in the flesh either.

That's the thing about the web - gathering info from everywhere in the world you'll always get stories of breakages on any part you care to name, but it doesn't mean those parts are always breaking, or anything remotely close to it.

That is so absolutely true. I work with a guy who had his DA crank break along a seam, and he said two others in his riding group had the same issue. FWIW I'm 72kg and have thousands of miles on my SISL2 crank with no issues at all.
