Moderator: robbosmans
Well, I'm not going to say don't do it, but I will say that I wouldn't. And here's a thread you might like to have a look at...

I used KMC chains on 10 speed for years. I went with one immediately for 11 speed and I could never get it to quiet down. I swapped it for a Chorus chain and voila, perfectly quiet chain.
This is a 12 speed thread.
Good point. Thread drift. Rewind.

No new chain tool. The current Campy Chain tool is the tool of choice for 11sp and 12sp. And that’s per Campagnolo.

I know the question about 2015 onwards 11 speed rings has been answered. But I’m wondering if conventional 5 arm 11 speed work ok? Trying to decide whether or not to sell my cranks or hang on Tj a pair for a SR12 or SR12 EPS build.

IIRC inner 12s chainring can work on 11s 4 arms crank and 12speed record outer chainring can work on 11s 4 arms crank but Super record 12s outer chainring is different because of the connecting bridge between the arms and should only work on SR 12s 4 arm crank.

I use a P2M type S an 11 speed crank with Stronglight Ct² 48-33 rings. I also use the newer 11speed [A] front mech.
It did not have enough travel sideways initially but I moved the cable down (on the mech) to get more travel and have more than 1000k
with it now. It works flawless. I did not bother with the cable adjuster Campagnolo shipped with the levers, it works perfectly fine without it.
Best Campagnolo shifting I ever had. (12 speed). However it is a mountain group, medium derailleur, big cassette with big jumps.
Not for the flatland's.
Also note this is mechanical ONLY. EPS, no idea how that works.

So you’re using an 11 speed front mech and 11 speed non Campag rings with a 12 speed set up?

Yes the ring actually says 11/10. And I use the newer 11 [A] front derailleur that I find works great even with the older 11 speed shifters.
I didn't buy a 12 speed mech because I was expecting to use my old 11 left shifter.
But the 12 works like a charm, I don't ever have to adjust the front mech when cross chaining.
Just move the wire down on the FD. The 12 speed FD might work but I never tried it.

So I’m considering biting the bullet on Campy 12spd.
I will be going Super Record Hydro Mechanical (weirdly cheaper online than Record), Record front and rear Mechs as I have no need for that 200gs or whatever the saving is.
Can’t find any full groupos in the UK at the moment, only from Germany. Has anybody tried the new hydro brakes on 12spd. I will likely buy it this week but won’t fit until I find the frame I’m going to put it on. Either a lynskey r380 or a Aeroad (don’t ask why such different choices!).
Anybody got any advice before I bite the bullet?
