3k is just a cosmetic layer. It’s hard to do in a mold because it will crease at the seam. Colnago did the M10 for one year in the 3k. Bottom line is it adds cost, and weight. Easy fo make the decision to lower cost and market less weight. But it does look nice. Still love the C59 in MTBK...

I have a matte finish black bike and I like having one that doesn't scream HEY LOOK AT ME.
Hey, you are wearing a Ferrari Red shirt in your pic!
This picture?

I got it for free from the bike shop.

If I was not wearing any cloths, it would be HEY LOOK AT ME ;)
That's a beautiful bike!

That’s gorgeous. I have also seen a few Sarto’s recently with a similar finish- so good.

3K is so rad- thats how Carbon should look. UD just looks like plastic.

What has happened to all the 3K anyway? It used to be so much more abundant.
I don't really mind UD carbon. It's completely flat, plain, untextured matte black paint that really gets me fuming. It's really difficult to keep clean too! You're so right about 3k though, it needs to make a comeback.

P.S. Shouldn't the thread title be 'Why is everyone so into Black bikes now?', grammar is almost as important as the colour of a bike.
P.P.S Gloss carbon looks really good with shiny alloy bits, just look at Ubergoober's AX  :beerchug:

Why I ordered a C60 instead of the C64...

I only have one all-black bike right now - my track bike. And it's only offered in black.

But, I've found that colored frames tend to age worse than matte black. The gloss fades and shows scratches more. Matte black just looks newer longer.

Also, as others have mentioned, having a basic black bike makes it easier to match it to one's team kit, either through colored tape, headset spacers, or skewers, if you're into that kind of thing.

My Parlee is a mix of UD and SL (weave) looks sick in the sunlight. To add color I have a battleship grey fork.

it's less waffa then the Canyon special edition bike I was trying to get. I think in the long run I will be happier with the Parlee.
