Mileage Specialized Turbo Cotton?

Hi,

How is your mileage for your Specialized Turbo Cotton clincher tires?

(I am using Veloflex Corsa and Vittoria Open Corsa and I am thinking about trying the Spec. turbo cotton)

Which size are you using and how much psi do you put in ?
(I am wondering that for the 24C it should be at least 115 psi based on the information on the their website "700 x 24mm, PSI 115-125").

24C.. but I never used more then 100-105psi. To be honest I never even looked at their recommendation on the website.

I'm on 24C front 26C rear now.

I have the Turbo Cottons in 24c ... and they now need replacing

brilliant tyres .... at approx 900 Km, I swopped the tyres (back tyre to the front)

at 1861 Km, I got my 2nd puncture on the rear within 1 week, and decided to retire them (I used them throughout winter (approx 35-40km/day, 6 days a week for commuting on shitty roads.... in the dry and very wet)

The Turbo Cottons are the best tyres that I have ever used, and I will buy another pair for my 'fast bike' and use latex tubes.

So, in a nutshell, I would say that they are good for 2000 Km, before they start wearing thin .... I weigh 75 Kg if that helps

On Conti GP4000, I start getting punctures on a regular basis once the rear tyre has approx 2600 Km

I must be easy on tires.. and I'm 82kg... I have not recycled my old rear yet.. if I can find it, I'll take a pic of the tread. For me they wear the same as GP4000s if not better. I seem to square those off really quickly. No flats for me, but I did have a bunch of cuts that I filled in with krazy glue.

3 tyres, average mileage 2200km. All retired after torn sidewalls, one was rendered completely unusable, two others - suspicious enough for me not to ride them anymore.

That said, I did at least one gravel race with a pair of them, which might have contributed to the sidewall damage.

Yea... they are NOT a tire for gravel rides.

I have a set of Turbo Cotton Hell Of The North 28mm tyres (designed for Paris Roubaix), that I got direct from Specialized. I just checked, and have done 6007km on them, I have had one puncture, and they still have loads of life in them. Admittedly I did move to Switzerland in September, so 2500km or so are on nice smooth Swiss roads, however the rest of the mileage is mainly rough/potholled Witshire roads

I had a set of GP4000II prior to these tyres, and had more punctures in less miles, also prefer the feel of Turbo Cottons, and they are as quick/faster than the Continentals

Yes they are Clinchers, i bought them in the US. I heard that they are not available in Europe, which is a shame as they are the best tyres I have owned

I'm sorry this is just nonsense. Unless you have a large group of riders doing a controlled experiment and putting tens of thousands of kms on them you can't prove this .
Sometimes you just have to look and feel a tyre and make an assumption about the relative durability.
The rubber on TCs is much thinner and the sidewalls more exposed. They have a traditional rather than fully vulcanised construction.
I ride TCs but in the expectation that cost per mile will be 3-4x greater than GP4000 because they both cost more and will last poorly.
I do it because life is short and bike rides are precious; they feel better and roll better.

BTW my Turbo Cottons have been as durable as any similar tire, and I've ridden them on gravel too.
