Not quite sure how to respond to this thread as I am certain that Canondale never produced a Tarmac those are Specialize bikes. If you meant Evo or Synapse than would need a picture of the entire bike or if you meant he bought a Specialized Tarmac SL4 then that would make more sense but again would need a picture of bike.

It’s fake. Specialised have had their OSBB press in bottom bracket for a few years now.

Just looks like aftermarket BB.
I have SL5 and that looks too good to be a fake.
But a threaded cup?
I'm no expert on Spesh, but look at how the top of your seattube is flush with the TT, and look at the ~1cm protrusion on the other one. Look at how the bottom of your headtube flows into the downtube and the other one has another ~1cm lip. Look at the lower position of the downtube cable entry. Hard to tell from the photo but the fork dropout doesn't appear to have the distinct lip that the real S-works fork does. Easier to see is that the seattube bottle cage mounts are in a totally different place than yours. Chainstays don't quite look right either, and the downtube seems a bit too squared off maybe?I have SL5 and that looks too good to be a fake.
So yeah, it is good, but there's a host of details that just aren't quite right.

I'm pretty sure that is a fake..... here's why.
The paint scheme used on that bike is the same as that of the 2014 Tinkoff Saxo S-Works Tarmac (which you can see here). That was the last year of the SL4, as Specialized released the new Tarmac (which many refer to as the SL5, although Specialized never called it that, officially) at the TDF in 2014 and then began selling the bike as a model year 2015 bike, in late 2014. The world tour teams change their paint schemes every single year and actually, Tinkoff Sax switched away from the dark blue.yellow and never went back to it, using fluro yellow after. The frame is actually a copy of the SL5... you can tell by looking at the seat post collar area, so why would it be painted as a 2014 Sl4? because its a fake. It doesn't appear as if the hologram plaque on the chainstay is there. There are also quite a few other paint/design mistakes... the "specialized" wording on the fork is twisted, there's no stripes on the seat tube, etc.

water bottle bolts on the seat tube seem a little high for it to be real. The SL5 had the seat tube water bottle bolts at the same height as the FD, this one seems to be higher than the FD.
I write the weightweenies blog, hope you like it

The sticker son the bottom of the BB shell look nothing like like the serial number stickers I've ever seen on my Specialized bikes and that bottom brack shell cover doesn't look right either.
