Only reason I ordered this shoe is because I got a massive discount and it is supposed to be supremely comfortable. Having said that I have concerns about doing long rides with a stiff carbon sole like this. Would it be a problem doing a century in this shoe? The other one I'm looking at is Lake CX237/MX237. Choices are constrained as I need wide shoes.

The stiffer the sole, the more comfortable the shoe will be. You do not want any flex in your sole. Flex will cause foot pain.

I've done 160km races in S-Phyres
Feet were fine, I don't remember being aware of any foot discomfort
Other bits of me suffered far more...

As long as the shoe fits and the foot is supported correctly. A badly supported foot in a stiff shoe is agony, it's less painful in a softer shoe.

If you see what i mean.

I bought the Lake 237s a few weeks ago and after two rides i knew I wasn't going to get on with them. Last week took possession of the RC9s and they are great. Rode 106km today and no pain. Well worth the money.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

@KCookie What didn't you like about the 237's as compared to these?
