I am in need of a 100mm, 6 degree stem.

Mcfk or Extralite.

It will be used on a Moots Vamoots RSL.

Thoughts?

Probably MCFK.

But what is your intention? Matchy-matchy or light-as-possible?

Matchy matchy would be nice but since Extralite doesn't make a seat post (yet), Mcfk is the way to go.

The only problem now is, I cannot find a 30.9/420 seat post in the US.

I like the look of the extralite better minus the finish, wish it was a matte finish. My mcfk is great but the clamp looks bulky on the steerer, especially if its on a straight 1 1/8 steerer. Would be nice if they used a lower profile clamping hardware on that area. They both ride great though. Carbon paste is a must on the bar/stem clamp on the MCFK.

If going with the Mcfk, will I have to remove bar tape and brake lever to get it on?

Depends on how flat your bar gets just off the clamping area (but before the tape). That stem has about a 220 degree wrap, and a bar that is all round would have a very difficult time wedging into that stem, short of feeding it from the bar end.

I realize that's not a hard answer, but here is more info:

I don’t think you really need to “take it all off” but will definitely need to unravel the tape until a bit past the bend where you’ll likely have greater ease getting the bars into the stem. I used this method on the time Ulteam and Schmolke TLO’s.
