I just got my Hi Mod with etap last week. The electronic shifting is so much more precise than mechanical shifting. Essential, no, but luxurious.

The best thing about the bike, though, is descending. The handling and sense of control bombing down hills is miles better than anything I have ridden. Maybe I've just had crappy descending bikes. Who knows.

As this is Weight Weenies and I'm also interested in the HM eTap build...would you mind weighing your bike for me? :)

I had the chance to ride a Synapse Hi-Mod with SRAM eTap Disc in Costa Brava. I have to admit that this bike was a blast for descending. It's hard to describe but this bike was fast and fun for descends (the disc brakes and eTap made helped the experience). For climbing, it was pretty average. The weight and geometry didn’t help. My bike was a 58cm (SRAM eTap Disc) and the weight was 18.5 lbs. Not the lightest.

Hmmm, that's 8.4kg. Most of the early reviews of the HM eTap bike claimed it weighed 7.25kg in a 56cm...

My 54 cm was a little over 16 lbs without pedals. With pedals, cages and seat bag (full of tubes, co2, etc), it is about 17.5.

Brilliant, thanks, that's more like it!

Was this the same model that you bought?

Thanks!

It's pretty pricey here in the UK - £6.5k - so I'm going to wait for the end-of-season sales and hope that one/all of the Hi-Mod builds are discounted...
