Anybody tried both? Which do you prefer?
Man, this question is almost like asking someone which saddle they like the most! :D

I ageer totally with what BikeKingV1r said... I have used both and have used Sidi's for a long time: Genius 6.6, Ergos, Wire... And the Shot.
I actually used the Shots for a little while and ended up selling them. The reason is that my feet run medium to narrow and I could never find a way to accommodate the closure system on the shot on top of my feet without getting my feet numb after 45 min of riding. And I use custom insoles!

For people with a high arch or a high instep, the Shot can become a problem. I have spoken to several riders, including some pros, they mentioned that even though they could use any Sidi they wanted because sponsorship, they stayed away from the Shot for these reasons. The Sidi Shot that Froome uses are very far from the Sidi Shot you and I buy. Many pros use the same mold of Sidi Wire you and I use, however. Mikel Landa and Uran used off the shelf lasts...

Thanks, Chorus88.
Yours are ace too.

And sfo, nothing wrong with the s-phyre. Did consider it but couldn't find one in my size to try and does look a bit boring. Since these fit well.. And on sale, Pretty easy decision.

Or even the RC7.

I've just had a look at the new Sidi Ergo 5; they appear to have gone backwards since the Ergo 2 & 3 (which I currently use). The full carbon sole with vents has been replaced with a hybrid monstrosity, and the heel retention system is no more.

Shimano might be my next shoe.

I agree...100%
2019 Sidi lineup (Wire2 & Ergo5) look cheesy compared to earlier models.

The reason why I purchased the Shots over the Wires was the $21 price difference.

Even Rigoberto Uran has a hard time deciding between Shots or Wires. :)

I've never owned anything but Sidi (road and dirt) up until this year. Tried the RC9's and I think they are great. More minimalist vs. bulky. The Sidi's are actually huge compared to the RC9 in terms thickness, sole, paddding, etc.

First proper ride today.. Slightly sore feet after 100kms.. But not bad sore but due to stiffness of the sole and the new the upper.
still working out what insole and wedges I need.

My specialized bg blue insole doesn't work in this shoe as it has built in arch support..Lakes have a really flat profile. The wedges still needed to stop my knees turning in.

Numb left pinky toe which I get with all shoes at the start and comes and goes based on adjustments of the shoe. Still working it out... But no hot spots or show stoppers.

Very happy with it.. Much less issues out of the box than my Lakes (let's not talk about my bont vapour+) . Will need too look at the red bg footbed or another brand.

sychen,
Did you try on the next size up, (eg. 42>42.5 )?
Keep in mind, replacing the flimsy Sidi insole will change the fitting of your Shots.

Are the Shots your first pair of Sidi cycling shoes?
My Sidis: G4 Carbon (2005), Ergo2 Lite Vernice (2012) & Shot (2018)

First pair of Sidi, yes.
Already whole size up from other cycling shoes.
It's a balance of the front dial loose enough and top dial tight enough. Do this with every cycling shoe.
Kinda falls asleep on me if not given enough space to move and more on the left.

Yes the insole will change the fit.. That's why it's some trial and error needed. I like the specialized ones so far so will try the flatter version first.

I'm glad I have 2 pair of last years Wires.......The new matte offerings of the Wire 2 and the Shot look terrible and very unlike Sidi imo. The Vernice finish is very Italian and very attractive to me.

For lower volume insole you can try Superfeet Carbon. If they fit you great insoles. They take less space than Specialized ones.
I replaced Sidi Wire's oryginal insoles with Superfeet and use them with other cycling shoes.
