I still don’t quite follow on the dropout position. If the builder rotates the dropout counter-clockwise, there no hood area for the chainstays to attach to. The hood part of the dropout has to be positioned correctly. So the dropout design (Paragon in this case) comes into play. The dropout I chose is a small one. Paragon also makes a much larger dropout which has probably more flexibility on chainstay and seatstay placement.

The road DM hanger will also change the position of the RD. At this point I have no issues with the bike so I might just keep everything as is. As I have stated earlier I think the new Shadow RD is awesome, with or without a DM hanger.

Have you ever managed to get a proper hanger out of Paragon? I was informed today that my hanger is based upon Paragon's Low Mount design.

No. I contacted them about a month ago. They were nice and told me that it's on their radar. But that they have other new products to get out first.

The road DM hangers have been available for a while now.

Edit: sorry, I forgot yours is an open dropout. Looks like they are only doing road DM for their thru axle hoods.

@Barturtle: well it sounds like at least you can actually position the B-link such that the derailleur ends up in the right place in space, even though it won’t be against the stop. As long as you torque it down so it doesn’t slip you should be ok. That seemed to work for Team Sky a couple of years ago. This year I see they had some custom hangers on their bikes.

Direct mount hanger looks good! That's a good reason for many to change it.
Any aftermarket direct mount hanger for those popular bikes, eg. canyon, specialized, giant...etc.?
I guess it would not be too costly to make some.

I ordered the direct mount hanger for my 2019 Venge. They offer both models but the bike come with the old style for some reason. Will post pics when it comes in.

My direct mount hanger arrived last week for my Tarmac, I think it cleans the look up.

Is this a part offered by Specialized or it is a third party part? If it is later, where can I get one?

I'd also be keen to know the answer to this, my Tarmac NEEDS direct mount.

Its a specialized part. Same part between Tarmac and new Venge. Part number is on the hanger in the picture.

Have you noticed any difference in shifting?

As said above, Shimano tried to shower this down the throats of the industry and MTB riders some years ago and still most bikes around have the good ol’ hanger that has served us so well during the last 60 years.

I know a few pro mechanics... none of them could care less.
TonyM wrote:I also don't understand why the manufacturers don't offer these direct mount hangers on their top frames like S-works, Dogma F10, C60, Cento10 Air, etc....
Is there only the BMC SLR01 having these among the top frames?

Campagnolo 12sp has this new “standard” as well... not sure if you have noticed. So it seems the way its going... In any case I am using a Pinarello F8 with Di2 9150 and I did notice the difference in shifting from using a standard hanger vs the direct mount adapter from Most Bike (Pinarello parts maker). As Calnago mentioned, I do not think I can take the wheel on/off any faster or better with the direct mount adapter in place. But for sure, I do not have to be on the first cog (11T) for my wheel to come off easily. I have been able to remove the wheel while it is on the 13T or 14T cog with minimal pulling.

By the way, direct mount for the Dogmas has been available since July 2018.... right after team Sky was testing them for a few months. The attached image is from the Giro 2018. you can use/order these direct mounts for their disc or rim bikes and the rim ones are backwards compatible to the Dogma 60.1

As long as I can stay with a direct mount system I’ll never go back to a standard hanger.

By the way does anyone know if there is a direct mount hanger available for the Cervelló R5 or RCA?

Looks like Pinarello has made the direct mount hanger official via its MOST component.
