sram road 1x12 speed coming in April

For eTap it's just a software update, and you can bet they'll introduce it at the top end.
AFAIK their mechanical shifter internals are all identical, so they'll just have to upgrade the right hand ratchet - also a simple upgrade. If the derailleurs stay Exact Actuation, they don't need to change either.

So far Sram has said Etap and clutches don't play well together. That's why we haven't seen an Etap MTB group yet despite years of waiting. Weird though since Shimano has no problem getting their servos and "damage control software" to work with the clutch.
Hardware thing. no softwareMarin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2018 11:50 amFor eTap it's just a software update, and you can bet they'll introduce it at the top end.

Hmm, probably true, they won't admit that road 1x doesn't need a clutch. Shame as it's obviously useless but adds 100g.

There was no proof. It was just James Huang of CyclingTips betting on a Sea Otter announcement. Looks like we will have to wait until Eurobike now for the next opportunity.
Sram has not updated the mechanical road groups in over 6 years. they need new product. all they emphasize is 1x system

A bit strange that Sram hasn't a 1*12 road out by now!?
1*12 is the only thing that "possibly" could sway me over from 2*11.
Off topic concerning Sram 1*12.... But
It seems Campa is leading the development now with 2*12 speed in both mechanical and EPS.

Sure, the front derailleur became a large thing to whine about once 1*11 came out.
I remember when it was 3*8/ 3*9 etc and then 2*10 came and after that 2*11.
All in all, less gear. Now we're soon back to typical city bikes.
