^^^^ totally agree with this. Specialized has split the Allez line into 2 distinct groups and there really isn't any overlap. They are geared toward 2 different user types. The current Allez frame is really targeted toward beginner riders... riders that might not be used to riding a road bike and they might feel more comfortable on something that isn't so aggressive and has more of an endurance geometry. The Allez Sprint is really targeted toward someone that is a seasoned rider, that wants an aggressive, race-ready frame... but also want cost a ton of money that won't break the bank if binned in a crit crash. The stack height on the Sprint frame is lower than both the 1st gen. Venge and SL5 Tarmac... not sure about the new SL6 Tarmac.
Stack is lower than the SL6 also, in some ways the SL6 is more relaxed than the SL5 in the smaller sizes at least. Less reach in the 52 and 49. The Sprint is a great bike though, better than a number of high dollar carbon bikes that I've ridden. If you can ride race geo I would take one over the regular Allez in a heartbeat.

Totally agree.... All of the DSW Allez frames offer such great value. I have a 2015 Smartweld Allez and I ride it nearly as much as I ride my Venge. I love the way it handles. I would have loved if they look the 1st gen. Smartweld Allez and updated the bottom bracket with that that of the Sprint and offer it just as a frame set.
here's my DSW Allez... with DA9000 and S-Works Tarmac fork, it weighs 15.2 pounds, with no real weight weenie parts.
I had the blacked out one that was sold as the DSW Race, great bike too, if less stiff than the Sprint. Did Specialised discontinue the normal (like crankaddictsrich's above, not the sprint) allez DSW? It looks so much better than the sprint version (especially in that polished finish)

Yes... when they came out with the Sprint, they continued with the Non-Sprint DSW bike for 1 more year, 2016... then they discontinued it. The finish on my bike is custom. It was a black frame. I used air craft stripper to take all of the paint off and then hand polished it, did the vinyl decals and then had it clear-coated. You can see pics here in my build thread on page 5.
That's a shame, would have been a competitor for my next bike (against the BMC alr01). Dunno how often they come up used for sale here in the uk.
Choose the bikes what kind of riding style focus on. Allez sprint is kind of criterium machine which has heigh BB drop, more aerodynamic but has heavy weight than allez. Allez is tradtional all-round model that suitable to all kind of riding.
Apart from performance, I think allez sprint has more cool degign than allez.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll picking up the Sprint but unfortunately it can't fit eebrake at the rear which is a bummer. SRAM Red rear brake caliper is very hard to adjust on the Sprint, it's pressing my rear wheel to a side when I brake.
Anyway I'm looking forward to this Sprint!

I would be very surprised if the Allez Sprint had a heavier weight than the standard Allez. Frame and fork before building it, it is probably the lightest bike I've owned. I'd say it was pretty close to, if not lighter than the Giant Propel it replaced and certainly lighter than my '05 S-Works Tarmac. Performance wise, it's one of the most aggressive bikes I've ridden and certainly the stiffest. Absolutely designed for the turns and accelerations of crit racing, but with the right wheels/tires, bars, saddle, it absolutely can be tamed enough for long days on road without sacrificing it's intended performance. My friend who works for Spec told me that it was supposed to be in the 900g range, but this was before production so that target might have changed. I've had two Sprints and one was light and the current one is substantially heavier.
