SRM speed sensor not connecting to Garmin 500

Hi guys
I've just bought myself a SRM speed sensor so I can use my track bike disc and get data when training. But my Garmin 500 won't find the sensor. Has anyone else had this issue? I've tried creating a new bike and removing the battery from the Garmin speed sensor before trying to sync the new sensor. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Tom

Not much to offer other than to say that flat batteries and magnet alignment are often the most common culprits for not being able to pair an ANT+ sensor with the Garmin Edge 500.

Try with your HRM strap on, if you normally use one.

You still have a magnet to activate the SRM from a cadence standpoint right?

srm speed sensor looks like a rebadged generic ant+ spd device - same as velocomp, bkool, though probably more expensive as it's got srm branding which means volume will be low
it's independent of pm, hrm etc.
as above, check magnet alignment - or take the sensor and garmin away from other stuff, and wave a magnet past the active area on the sensor every second or so, often these things have a reed switch that makes an audible 'tic' as the magnet passes
if it doesn't work, get a refund and buy a different one, any ant+ spd profile device should work
it's independent of pm, hrm etc.

Make sure you're not trying to connect it as a speed/cadence combo sensor. Choose speed only.sungod wrote:srm speed sensor looks like a rebadged generic ant+ spd device - same as velocomp, bkool, though probably more expensive as it's got srm branding which means volume will be low

Some SRM sensors are Suunto and arer not Ant+ compatible. Sure it's ANt+?

It could be an ‘ANT’ transmitter, without the plus. The early ones were, iirc.

Correct. Both speed sensor and HR band came with my PC7 don't work with my Garmin 520 since there are Ant. Not Ant+.BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2018 12:30 amQuattroporte wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 11:30 pmSome SRM sensors are Suunto and arer not Ant+ compatible. Sure it's ANt+?

Interesting. The SRM Powercontrols used to give you the option of looking for an ANT or ANT+ signal from speed transmitters.ipenguinking wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2018 12:40 amCorrect. Other option is to search for a specific ANT+ number - ie that specific device instead of just looking for anything thats in range.
