I cut my cage from carbon plate, added hardware from my SRAM derailleur, including the upper cage spindle that enters the derailleur body (it just bolts on btw), and bought some 16t Digirit carbon wheels that spin like crazy. Whether in the real world these big pulleys make any diff I still don't know, but it was just another fun fab project.
This is just beyond ugly on any bike. I'd live without the 0.2 watt gain. Just do an extra few sets on the rollers or loose a pound weight.
I like any and all new bike tech, but can't get past the redicoulous look of these YUUGE pulley wheels. Each to their own.

+3
Along with probably the least value of any ‘upgrade’.

How did you manage to remove the spindle??? I've been trying but no joy
I would never spend the money on it. The gains are negligible, it's extremely expensive, and situated in a very vulnerable spot. No thanks
The gain is neither on the size (0.25w from 11-11 to 15-15) or on the bearing (0.3 to 0.7 takin the extremes), but on the tension the cage applies on the system as well as their geometry where you have more than 1w of savings.
Could you obtain the majority of the gains with good ceramic bearings and a weaker cage spring? Yes and that would cost a fraction of the price.
Ultimately that's "interesting" but an absurd, ridiculous, expensive mod. The gains in a chain properly lubricated are way bigger and cost "nothing"

1 watt. Like anyone could possibly notice that.
It’s a vanity buy.

Shoot! I just replaced a broken Sram jockey wheel last week. If I had known that these existed I would have been all over this. I guess I'll just have to wait until my $10 pair breaks again before replacing them with those. Probably will last another 3 or 4 years before that happens though.
