Need advice reducing weight on my TCR

Hey guys,

Now that I have a Bianchi Oltre XR4 being build as an all around bike, I'm looking to make my 2017 TCR SL as more a specialized, lightweight, climbing bike. Currently it comes with Dura Ace 9150, Bora Ultra 50 clinchers, Selle Italia Tekno Flite saddle, Speedplay Zero Titanium pedals, and Giant Aero bar and stem, both carbon. In its current state, the bike is 6.577-KG, 14.5-LBS. I was thinking doing the following.
My Bora Ultra 50's are already slated to go on my Oltre XR4. I will replace them with Bora Ultra 35's, also clinchers. So listed below are things I'm looking to upgrade/lighten.

Bora Ultra 35 clinchers (Bora Ultra 50 clinchers) 60 Gram savings
Zipp NSW Skewers (Campagnolo Skewers) 60 Gram savings
Crane Creek EE brakes (Dura Ace 9100) 150 Grams savings
Michelin Power Performance (Conti GP 4000 SII) 20 Gram (pair) savings

I guess whats left is perhaps a lightweight, well under 200 gram handlebar? I believe my Giant aero bar is at least 230-245 grams. Any bars you recommend? What do you guys think?

Hey.
The Bontrager xxx bar/stem combo is around 200g I think.
Lighter tubes like continental race 28 light (80g) or race 28 supersonic (60g)
Depending on how much you want to spend, skewers like Tune U20 weight 20g.
You could change out the crankset if you want.
Install link cables to save weight over normal housing
New expander/top cap such as the CaneCreek eeNut

Have you installed the glue in Giant Aircap expander? I lost about 55g when I installed that and cut my excess steerer tube.

From an absolute point of view your comment makes sense. But in many areas rode debris can make riding tubulars on roads impractical. Nothing wrong at all with a light pair of clinchers and the boras are excellent.

Back to the OT, have you considered a long ferrous rod? I'll see myself out now.

i would say go tubulars as well:) they will be lighter and safer if you are building a bike to conquer mountains.. you will have lots of descending as well..

I'd get decent tubeless ready wheels .... (you can also use clinchers) .... there will be loads of new light/fast tubeless tyres released soon

if you want the fastest .... use Vittoria Open Speed Tubeless .... if you want fast clinchers, use Specialized Turbo Cottons

no point in making your bike lighter then using slow tyres ....
