I have ultegra disc bike but would like to change the brakeset to sram hydro disc etap.
I have the etap front and rear mech and chainset so i dont need the whole lot.
Can i just take off the ultegra shifters and fit it straight to the sram set up?will the hoses fit straight on etc?to save re routing the whole lot.

Ok thanks, but you still need to thread the hose through the frame so will have to disconnect then re connect.

In a way, you are asking if a campagnolo derailleur will work on a shimano shifter. The shimano hoses come with a connector that works for shimano style shifters. On top of that, Shimano uses mineral oil and Sram is using Dot. As you might know, the seals for dot, don't like mineral oil and vice versa.

Best is to dismantle that braking system, build it up with the sram parts and then bleed it for best performance.

Good luck!

You’ll need to use the Sram hoses. Sram use Dot fluid and Shimano use mineral oil. The two don’t mix.

Ultegra disc is really good. Shimano brakes work better than SRAM as well. What's driving the switch? Weight?

I have an etap front and rear mech which i would like to use so thought about getting the etap shifters and brakeset.
I thought i could just swap it out and keep the hoses in place.

If weight is the main goal, go with 8070 shifters, 9150 derailleurs and it’s a much easier swap.

If swapping levers you still have to rebleed system anyway. If there are lines already in the frame, threading new ones is usually very easy.

It comes down to which system the OP wants to use.
