Cheap clip-on TT bars with decent adjustment?
Moderator: robbosmans
Want something to throw on the trainer bike then take on distance stuff come summer. Looking to practise before going all in on a TT bike. Want something that sits low, don't need spacers for height.
Aluminium is fine. Preferably quite cheap. £50 to £70 or something would do
J bend for beginners, or is straight okay as I'll be spending a lot of hours (10+) weekly getting used to them?

T2 have 60mm of stack. But they do allow you to set the pads a long way back. Not good for pad width options
The Profile V series have 35mm stack but less rear offset.
The old 3T clipons with the socket in front of the bar are low stack (but uncomfortable armrests)
Might be able to find some Hed clip lites used

Ah 60mm stack..
What about these Deda Parabolica? They look low, cheap and available pretty much anywhere here..

Don’t go there.
They use a non standard diameter extension.
Stick with something with 22mm such as profile, zipp vuka etc.
That way you can change them if you want a different shape.

The new version of Zipp's Vuka Alumina Clip (NOT the old one with oval shape pads) has shedloads of setback and width adjustment for the pads and comes in an underslung extension version for low stack.
Ritchey's Sliver (not cheap) is great for getting the pads very low to the bar without fully underslinging the extensions so it's easier to get a comfy wrist position.
If you can find it the old Vision Tri Max Team does that as well, and should be dirt cheap. Extensions are a fixed part of the clip and can't be changed, though.

Damn that new low mount Vuka looks great, though pricier than I wanted.
Is this the new one? Says low mount on it and comes with carbon bars. Looks like a nice price, thinking to jump on it but not sure if I'm reading it right. Extension shape looks different to some other images I've seen too.

Edit: just heard Sicario 2 is a real thing, got hyped, and bought the clip ons in that link. If they're wrong in some way I'll return 'em

Is the old one not reversible, and the new ones are called 'low' or 'top'? Read that on a guy's blog so thought these low ones were the new ones.
Edit: Found what these are, a 2015 update:

Will give them a shot and sell the clips for a lower rise later.

Might be better if you looked at the zipp website..
FWIW I never had any joy using their mounts or basebar.
They never stayed where I put them despite bollocking them up tight.

Yeah I checked their site out yesterday, the ones he's listed I think are these, just a different picture angle. I can't tell easily which pads are which year :
I think there's maybe 3 years/versions. Original, 2015 and 2017.
On slowtwitch the blogger says the old ones are reversible and new models are listed as top/bottom:
"...This was an ingenious, but quite complicated, method of selling you one bar that could be configured as either an Undermount or Overmount (I’ll get to what that means). The new bars decouple these two mount paradigms, and you either buy the Zipp bar as an Overmount or an Undermount."
That kinda threw me as that listing calls the bars a low mount.
Anyway no worries, Iooking forward to experimenting with them

The ebay link is for old bracket and pads with new style extensions
The new bracket + pads have a lot more reach adjustment than the old. The width adjustment has a wider range but larger steps on the new.
The old pads are really comfortable, if you can get them in the right place you'll like them.
