Just wondering if the shifters need to be re-paired after replacing the batteries.

I would guess... not, since you don't have to re-pair when changing the batteries on the derailleurs.

No. Just put new batteries into the shifters, and you're done.

After over a one and a half year I've completed forgotten that there are any batteries in the shifters :)
Would shifter's LED somehow indicate the low battery status as it happens on derailleurs?

I forgot about them too, but finally got a warning on my Wahoo (or Garmin, I cannot remember which), and simply changed them both because they're insanely cheap little batteries.

it's documented in the manual

each shifter has an led on the inside of the shift paddle, it lights up when clicked

green >6 months
red 1-6 months
red flashing <1 month

fwiw i installed mine in march 2016, call it 20 months, they are still showing green

I have 12,000 miles on my original batteries and they're still green.

reviving this - garmin 830 tells me my right shifter battery is critical, but the led is still showing green. which to believe?

How much is a CR2032 and 5 mins worth opposed to a flat shifter mid ride?

Are you riding in cold conditions? Is the battery warning re-occuring on your 830 or was it a one time thing?

I had a red led on a shift lever and a single battery warning on my Edge last winter. The bike had been sitting in sub-zero temperatures for a while. After approximately 400 hours of riding time I'm still on the same coin cells.
