That's a Wifli rear derailleur, adds a little weight but since it's a climbing bike it's probably for the better.

Might be a stupid question, but did you need to add links to the chain compared to the stock jockey wheels?

From my research in the past, no additional links are needed, but I'm no mechanic at all so maybe others can chip in. But you'll find the answer surely with a bit of googling.
