Hey WW,
The other day I was doing some re-cabling down near the bottom bracket and some headset cleaning near the headtube. I found these objects inside the frame tubes. Cable crimp is for size comparison

Does anyone have any stories or photos to share of things they have found?

Those are just bits of bladder.

Yeh I know that. I'm just surprised they were left in there and was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.
Thanks for your addition.

I had some bits stuck to the inside of my Bianchi infinito cv frame near the head tube.
Also had some super thin plastic in my Chapter2 frame as well.

Ride media magazine used to score frames based on what the inside of the frame looked like. I think their gold standard for the scoring was based on a Scott addict frame.

That's interesting. My frame was a scott addict. Maybe it is just common in all frames but is usually not found

You won't find this stuff in top quality frames (Colnago, Parlee, Sarto, Crumpton, Time...).

You can't be 100% sure of that kgt.
Only if they CT scan frame and fork, they would see this.
I know Eddy Merckx frame started using CT scanning, but not what year.

He said he found those bits near the headtube. You do not need scanner to see it. And more in house control of fabrication process means less of these issues.

I’ve once looked into a C60 and found some heritage and unfounded elitism.

No such luck with my other carbon bikes though. They were pretty clean except for some extra cable liner in one of them.

Yes, if they are in head tube (only).
But this might be the case if the resido is moving, he might have turned frame or shaken it.
CT scan is what is used if you are really doing it best way.
This also shows if the carbon is without any contamination etc.
This assure less risk for potential structural failure
There is no way you can see through the walls. Some bladder resido can be stuck also.

3 of the 4 pieces were found just behind the bottom bracket at the seatstay junction, took a long time to get out even though the cranks were out and the cable guide (leaving a decent hole). The third was found by looking through the top tube from the heattube

I don't think you can guarantee even in top tier framesets that the internals will be spotless. Some of the pics of C60 bottom brackets I've seen on this site agree with my opinion.

Built a bike that included a Zipp SL70 aero handlebar lately. To get the brake cable through the bar interior I first had to drag out wodges of plastic liner that was blocking the internal cable run. Used the end of a J-bend spoke for that. It was quite annoying.

Sounds yucky. Must have been similar to the vacumn/pressure bladder thing I had
