Buying Klein Q-Pro used

Just looking for an opinion from the guys here...

would it still be worth it to purchase a used Klein Q-Pro online for around 2000 USD to rebuild for riding?

I have been lusting after Kleins for a long while now and I finally see one coming my way..
However, at 2k USD, I feel that the asking price is rather high.

I have seen the pictures and condition of the bike still looks pretty ok to me.

what are your thoughts and opinions?

IMHO no alu frame deserves such a high price. Unless you are a Klein collector and you must have it.

$2k is a lot for a Q-Pro. I had a friend unload his mint condition Quantum 2 for about $500 a few years back.

500 sounds reasonable if its in great condition for the Q-Pro also.

Thanks for affirming how I felt.

Pretty much, I felt kind of ripped off when I was offered that amount (inclusive of shipping) for his Klein.

He wouldn't even consider a slightly lower offer of mine.

Its a post trek Klein by the way.

Even the Trek era Kleins fetch reasonable money.

Things to bear in mind are tyre clearances etc werent designed for modern wider wheels and tyres. Internal routing is a pita too.

On the plus side, they do ride better than a similar era 'dale.

$2K is what I paid for a then current Madone 7. Way too much for a Klein, walk away and keep your eyes peeled, the hunt is part of the thrill.

With a quick look at completed auctions on ebay.com, I can see that these usually go for about $500. The nicest ones (like mint with 200 miles on it) sold for a little over $1000.

You often find with antiques (especially old cars) an old guy that thinks his car (or bike in this case) is worth a fortune.

To the OP, if you are just looking for a nice used bike, you could do a lot better with something more modern (carbon and at least 10 speed) from the mid-2000s. If this is going to be a Sunday group ride vintage bike, then it seems like you will need to keep hunting. BTW, I've always wanted a Klein too. The one I wanted was the original Team Super with the boron strips.

I am not the seller. But I do stand up for myself when bs get thrown in my face.

Where is the link to the ad? Where do you get $2K? Where is the exact spec of the bike?
For all I know it has DA-9100 and Enve carbon wheels.....................................

Why are you debating this with me? If you want the actual ad, ask the original poster. The OP said the bike was $2K. Did you even read the first post in the topic?
