Lightest Dependable Crank-Based Power Meter
Moderator: robbosmans
Has anyone figured out what the lightest dependable power meter is? I am currently running a 130 BCD SRM with Cannondale SiSl2 crankarms on my Specialized Allez Sprint. I have a new Tarmac frame on the way and I am thinking I will try 52/26 chainrings so I need a 110BCD spider. Decided I would see what good options are out there.

Doubt you can go wrong with Power2Max spider on a Specialized FACT carbon crank. Barring THM crank on a powermeter spider doubt you'll find lighter/stiffer combination.

If dependable includes single side power options then a cannondale sisl2 with spidering and a 4iiii on the nds eould probably be lightest. Sram exogram bb30 and stages carbon nds would run a close second. (My 1300bcd sram bb30 + stages + ocp3 q rings 53/39 + chainring bolts is 559grams - with smaller bcd and lighter rings you might dip under 500g.)

I can testify the 4iiii is light and dependable. My SiSL2 DS with hollowgram si/4iiii on the NDS, and 52/36 spidering sl is 546g for the complete crank.
I can confirm the SiSl2 Crank and 4iiii + Spidering combo is reliable and probably your lightest option AFAIK. I have been running the same setup on my CAAD10 and now my SuperSix and it hasnt skipped a beat, admittedly its only be a few months but Im happy with it so far.

Subtract 145g from this for the pedals since I was too lazy to remove them:
