Alternative Tool For Removing Battery Cover

This may sound stupid but what are people using to remove the circular battery cover with a slot for coin? Last night I rounded the battery cover pretty bad on the left leg of a Pioneer Power Meter with an US quarter coin. The cover requires quite a bit of effort turning from the marked Open position to Close position (probably because the rubber seal) and the previous marks from the LBS mechanic did not help neither. I've ordered a replacement cover and wanted to get good advice on proper tool.

I shaped one out of a piece of aluminium for my Pioneer PM. I also didn't like rounding off the battery cover. Took about 10 minutes cost zipp and works a treat

Where was the Pioneer hardware designed, Japan? Possibly the slot is sized for a ¥100 coin…

I'm now thinking about gluing a piece of plastic 'handle' to the cover so I can turn it with my fingers. There is plenty of clearance between the sensor and my bike's chainstay.
