11-speed?

i so much prefer the ergonomics of the 10-speed brake/shift levers, i was wondering if anybody has had success making this conversion.

I'm assuming you mean the old pre-2009 shifters?

The rear, thumbshifting mechanical upshift section completely changed with the introduction of Ultrashift. Not to mention the shifter body itself.

You actually ask an interesting question, which perhaps no one has tried to do. You could be a first!

But I suspect the answer is a NO.

OP is not asking that question.

He's asking if it's possible to convert an old 10-speed shifter to 11.

i believe the shifter is from 2004

There was some place (that I read about in the past ) making custom 11-speed shift parts for the old shifters, so this is not a stupid question. I'm not sure if they are still around but I suspect not. Lack of demand maybe since the new Ultrashift were an improvement for most people.

It requires someone machining a toothed shift disc so that the cable pulls match an 11-speed shifter. It's possible in theory but never caught on. Plus for the downshift finger mech.

But before you get your hopes up, apparently the guy no longer has access to the machinery needed and has none left.

There was talk on German forums about having the modified disc 3D printed, but that sort of fizzled out.

I seem like I have seen speak of this being done on thepaceline forum by a member that does campy shifter rebuilds. His name over on the forum is oldpotatoe.

That said you are really not missing much from the 1 (technically 2 gears) extra cog from the 11speed cassette.

A disc indexed to allow use of (far less expensive) Shimano rear derailleurs would be great.

i already have the chorus 11-speed on one bike.
wanted to be able to use the 10-speed brake/shift levers

Anyway it does not address the OP's question.

It is mainly discussing changing a 2009 Ultra shift 10-speed to 11-speed. ie the "new" lever shape with redesigned innards. OP has the old one.
