Matching 9100 cassette cogsets with 6800
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm trying to come out with a junior gear cassette for steep climbs, 14-30 setup.
Besides Spécialités TA (custom setup) maybe I can combine Shimano 9100 bigger cogsets with the 6 first junior gearings 6800 cogs ? Either way it would be an expensive combination...

11-12-13-14-15-17-[19-21-24]-[27-30] = CS-R9100
14-15-16-17-18-19-[20-21]-[23-25-28] = CS-6800
"with 6 juniors cogs" you will get two 19:
14-15-16-17-18-19-[19-21-24]-[27-30]
You can try [21-23-25] from 11-25T/12-25T/11-34T:
14-15-16-17-18-19-[21-23-25]-[27-30]
14-15-16-17-18-19-[20-21]-[23-25-28] = CS-6800

If you do that much climbing you will be descending a lot. You will need the 11, 12, and 13. Just get the 11-30 and be done with it.
I bought a 11-34. Before my first ride I swapped the 11 cog with a 12 cog, thinking that I will need the 12 cog more than the 11. I was dead wrong. I use the 11 more than I realize! I put the 11 back and I didn't miss the 12.
I only use the 11-34 for special climbing rides.

Thanks ritxis !!
What's the Weight of that 'frankencassette" ?
I guess you need a Miche spacer between the 27 and the 30 cog ? How many km:s on the cassette, and how is the alloy cog doing in terms of shifting quality and durability ?

Do not check the weight, nor do I remember the size of the spacer, i'll check
Shifting, i´its goog As is normal, with a complete cassette will be somewhat finer, but I'm happy), durability? I think it will be satisfactory...Ultegra/Xt cogs......with 30 Miche (this last one will be used, but not as much as the rest)
