New light-weight Recon cassette
Moderator: robbosmans
Recon is offering a new alloy 11-28t cassette with improved cog spacing (11t-12t-13t-14t-15t-16t-17t-19t-22t-25t-28t). These are the same cog ratios as the SRAM 1190 cassette. Unlike the Shimano 11-28t cassettes, these include the 16t cog. I have been using the Recon for a while on my Parlee with DA 9150 groupset. The Recon 11-28t weighs 105g, versus 165g for the 11-28t SRAM 1190 and 192g for the 11-28t Shimano 9000 cassettes. On my bike it shifts as well as the 1190, although it is noisier. Also, the Recon is beautifully polished gold or silver. I just ordered another Recon 11-28t for my Seven bike.
I think the big issue is and has always been duravility with the recon cassettes.

With alloy cassettes. The steel ones should be fine.

Are their Cromo ones reliable?

Recon make the edco cassettes, and I heard good things about those.

Not really my experience. Not bad, but shifting is not on par with the big 3, and wear is too fast for a steel cassette.
