How long u'r saddle last?

I've been using Fizik Ariones for years. I find they last several years, but they do start to sag in the middle. At some point, that sag will become uncomfortable.

The materials, however, have always held up.

I have been using Specialised Toupes since they were launched. I probably do about 16k-20k a year split across two bikes. I have had to change the Toupes after approx 3-4 years as they start sagging and the interior plastic shell fatigues. I also have an imprint of my 'sit bones' on the limited padding the saddle offers.

Two Selle San Marco both with no wear sign after 5 years and several thousand KM each. I had another San Marco but sold it because it wasn't comfortable, same happened with Fizik and several Selle Italia saddles.

Mainly because you've worn yourself in sympathy with it.

Try a new one, and see how knackered your old one really is.

I'm using Prologo saddles and the fake leather doesn't seem to wear out.

Yeah, I'm using a Prologo Nago Evo CPC saddle (love it), and after about 10,000kms it still looks brand new.

I really like in term of comfort my Selle Italia SLR Carbonio Flow. But not in term of quality and long lasting (i expected to last at least 20000 km).. So what other brand/model is similar to Selle Italia SLR Carbonio flow, similar weight and will last longer? If i need to choose this will be priorities here: 1. Comfort 2. Long Lasting 3. Weight

I use cheap-ass 15$ aliexpress full-carbon saddles which I buy in threes and I treat as if they were disposable.
Out of the three I've used to far, the first two barely made it past 6000km. The first one died of a cracked rail, and the second one didn't survive a nasty crash (the previous one did survive a crash though, so pretty impressed). But since they are 15 bucks a piece, when I get home it just gets thrown in the trash, I pick a new one from the stack (i get them in different colors, ya know, for variety!) and onto the bike it goes.
It's time to order another set...

Problem of Arione saddles is for your bibs.

Never had any trouble with ariones wearing shorts. I tried a fizik kurve snake which is the same shape as the arione and that was terrible, something was definately rubbing there. It was so painful though I just replaced it with an arione.

I suspect it was some non slip taping on the rails, which you get on some ariones so maybe they'd cause an issue.

Selle Italia Flite ti - about 20 years old and still feels perfect.

I am surprised to see people running padded saddles for extreme duration. There is absolutely no way the foam kept its properties over so many years. I still have at home a Flite ti used for 4 years and its replacement (used very little) the padding properties have absolutely no comparison.
The degradation being progressive you got used to it but renewing the saddle would likely bring a new level of comfort...

Edit: also remind that the saddle geometry changes over time. The lowest point changing on both horizontal and vertical planes. (Obviously not talking for carbon shell saddles).

They rub bibs due to the lines drawed in both sides of them. After months my bibs were worn away exactly where the saddle was rubbing all the time. It never happened to me with any other. On the other hand, my Arione saddle was one of the most comfortable I've ever had.

Sure it wont, but that doesn't mean it won't be comfortable. After 20 years the foam is probably rock hard but it has moulded to the user's behind, and the user's gotten very accustomed that that particular saddle.

After all some of us are riding with unpadded, rigid carbon saddles and are fine doing centuries in them. If the saddle fits...

I also ride an unpadded saddle. My comment was to the "still feels perfect" claim. It might be rideable but it cannot "feel perfect".
