Garmin Edge 1030 and Vector 3
Moderator: robbosmans
The only feature that might get me to sell my 1000 is the improved route planning feature. I'm on the road every month for work and always bring my bike. Some of the routes my 1000 creates haven't been ideal. I needs to see one in person and compare them side by side. I have the silicone case on my 1000 so the color is irrelevant, I'm sure the 1030 will have the same available.
New weight limit on V3
The maximum weight limit of the cyclist using the Vector™ 3 system is
105 kg (231 lb.). Cyclists over this weight limit risk personal injury and
property damage

It uses LR44 batteries and the pedaling time is 120 hours, down from 175 hours of the Vector 2s. I guess that's the trade-off for eliminating the antenna pods while keeping the pedal bodies proportional.

And allready listed on bike24.com with specs and price (Garmin Edge 1030):

I'd be more than happy with it as long as the weight is reasonable (if it weighs somewhere in DuraAce pedal territory, brilliant) and no (expected) Garmin issues are present

Looks like the dual weighs in at 316g and the single sided at 324g, so about 68g more than Dura ace

Allright, let's do the math:
* the lightest power setup with Look pedals so far (let's ignore Time Xpressos): 188 (Keo Blade Ti) + 560 (Quarq Dzero or P2M NG FSA KForce/Rotor 3D+, both 110 BCD) = 748g. P2M Cannondale SISL2 would be lighter, but you're BB30 only then.
* 316 (Vector 3) + 286 (Clavicula SE) = 602g, almost 150g of savings.
Sounds like an option if you want power on a WW bike.
Edit: ignored any of the SRM (Clavicula M3 or Origin) offerings, as they alone cost more than anything above combined.

It's 162g per pedal according to dcrainmaker: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/08/han ... meter.html
Additionally, there's already a review of Garmin Edge 1030 on his website https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/08/gar ... eview.html

Use strava if you are not familiar with the area. The route planning feature on their website uses more commonly used roads when you click in the general direction you want to go. I used to travel quite a bit for work, so I've had to make my fair share of routes on roads I knew next to nothing about.

If I had known this I might have held out for the Vector 3. Oh well.
Just return them. Easy to do especially if purchased online.
I'm on board for Vector 3's as soon as I can get them. These are what the Vector 1 and 2 should have been.
The biggest plus for me is the combined ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart. Means one can use TrainerRoad, Zwift, etc. on a phone/tablet/PC indoors, and still turn their Garmin head unit on which will help with familiarising with what efforts/pacing looks like on the device that actually goes out on the road with you.
(Still on an Edge 500 here with zero plans to upgrade.)
Question for anyone that knows: what is the expected stack height of these?
