Sooo... According to the Competitive Cyclist website, the Campy Record/Super Record RDs have been updated to have a medium cage option. I'll try and get some further info...

EDIT: According to the Campy official price list, Chorus has a medium cage option too. All fits a 32t.

Looks like it's a chorus based cassette but why produce a medium cage derailleur that will only work on one cassette size? Don't know why they made a short cage one at all as the medium will obviously work on all tooth sizes below a 32.

What the heck does this mean?

"Optimized for the longer throws of disc-specific wheelsets"

What is the main difference between the two? Just bigger cogs in the back with medium?

My short cage just arrived (new) a few weeks ago, which I plan to match to an 11-27 or 11-28. Should I consider exchanging, or is it no different on those size cogs?

1. Yes
2. No, unless you plan on a bigger cassette range. I regularly swap out 12-25 & 12-29 cassettes and 52/39 & 52/36 cranks. Works awesome! (chain length set for 36/12)
