Specialized Sworks Tarmac Ultralight frame

It is just begging for a crazy light build.

I'm weighting ( :D ) for the disc version...

R5 would be my choice if you can't go Emonda

For a climber bike yes there is the weight,
but not only... the frame need to be nervous, not too stiff, in a long climb there is many different rythm, sit down on the saddle, stand up, etc..

Izalco Max I would also consider, though it lacks a bit of "flair" for me

aesthetically, the izalco for shure is the simplest of all named bikes here (and you can purchase generally). round slim tubes, absolutely no embellishment, paintjobs modest and minimalistic, far from temporary fashion.
but interesting for those who prefer classical, simple look.
aside from aesthetics: it has been customized for the ag2r-pros, so one can imagine that its characteristics are ideal for climbing!

whatever it ll be, good luck with the frame-choice!

ps: you wrote you`d like the cannondale best aesthetically-great climbing bike as well! (i know from experience!) recommandation!

I DO like the Cannondale looks wise! Especially with SISL2

I'm just not a fan of the "kink" in the top tube on the new Emonda... or the "slash" dropouts on the Bianchi Specialissima...

I will probably get the R5...

Fuji or cannondale would be my vote. 56 cm both weigh the same... about 770g

Giant TCR - I have good relations with the LBS, but the frameset (advanced SL) seems heavy?

i'm curious to know what's the weight for a size XS and S for the Advanced SL

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=135755&start=15#p1192584

a few complete frameset weights in that thread.

thank you..
the weight of the size S is about the same as my 2011 Scott Addict R1 (S size) for frame + cut fork + cut 3T seatpost

just guessing but probably the new TCR is much stiffer than my old Scott Addict?

For what's it's worth I own an Addict HMX built up at 7.5kg and a Supersix Hi-Mod built up at 6.4kg and I climb quicker on the Addict.
I'm far bigger fan of Cannondale over Scott and I want to like the Cannondale more but the Addict just feels stiffer and faster.
I'd definitely consider the Addict.

good to know... the BB section on your HMX is definitely much beefier than my 2011 Addict R1.

But also, how do you build up an hmx addict to 7.4kg? I feel like you sneeze and end up under 6.8kg

Just throwing it out there. Merida Scultura? Lightweight award in 2016 and 'lightest' production bike 2016 as well.
I love the frame, rides like a magic carpet - super thin seat stays.

Thanks for all the input, I heard that the Merida is a bag of noodles though?

From my understanding Merida has the Scultura 9000 which uses CF5 framesets which is probably a higher end carbon and minimal carbon layup to shave weight. As a result, it may be found noodly for weak.
On the other hand, the 2017 Scultura 7000-E uses a CF4 (still higher than the CF2 used by anything under the 2017 Scultura 7000 model). The CF4 uses more material and I can attest that the frames using CF4 (2016 Scultura 6000, same frameset as the 7000-E) is not noodly compared to the BMC's I've owned which are notoriously stiff. Would probably rank BMC as the stiffest frames I've ridden, but a bit harsh. In my experience, it's a perfect blend of stiffness and compliance for my personal taste, and this is compared to Wilier's/Giant's/Scott's that I've owned or tested. If it was so weak, it probably wouldn't be used by the pros in grand tours.

On a side note, I believe the CF4 frameSET (Scultura 6000 or 7000-E) sneaks just under 1kg for the M/L. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've read this somewhere.. might have been TOUR.
