This is very possible. For shimano the calipers are the same and its just the adaptor that changes. looking at the rear hope caliper if you had the front shimano or sram adaptor you could use it on the frontKlaster_1 wrote:What about using rear flat mount caliper in front with an adapter bracket (bought separately, SRAM sells those), anyone tried that? Or front/rear FM calipers have a design feature that makes such a combination unusable?TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 1:54 amThe Hope RX4 flat-mount calipers can't be adapted down to 140mm and all you have to do is look at a photo to see why.

I don't see how this is possible.
A rear RX4 caliper already has a built in angle and height offset for 160mm rotors. You cannot take that offset away and therefore you cannot use a standard Shimano/SRAM front adapter on an RX4 caliper. It would be equivalent to using a Shimano/SRAM caliper with both a rear 160mm adapter and a front adapter.

A-ha, so FM RX4s are 160mm only, the official page and Bikerumor confirm that. I though that was the case for the front caliper only. For 140mm in the rear you'd have to use a PM caliper with a FM to PM adapter.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 7:59 amA rear RX4 caliper already has a built in angle and height offset for 160mm rotors.

PaulH, I can only recount my horrible experience (and to an extent, my friend dvq's.) We both had issues with pistons getting sticky and not retracting fully. I had problems with multiple RX4 calipers where the same exact pistons would get stuck either from first installation or after a couple hundred miles. I was in contact with someone from Hope Tech USA for a couple weeks, but I guess eventually he figured I was lying about my problems and he stopped replying.
I've never had such a bad experience with a finished/shipping product before...such an incredibly bad experience and I'm back on SRAM calipers now.
Maybe one day Magura will make road calipers...

Try slightly loosening the caliper mounting bolts and then spin the wheel - the rotor will hit the offending pad and move itself into alignment.PaulH wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 9:12 amPaulH wrote:I’m having problems with disc rub after fitting any tips for getting the pads to retract a bit more , done the business card trick etc shimano postmount, can’t get the pads to retract enough

Rear flat mount looks good, i wonder if it has lower rear profile than a TRP spyre.
I have a bike that has an extremely tight space in rear triangle area. TRP Spyre fit in there but most other calipers hit the seatstay.
Hopefully this is a hydraulic alternative for my bike.

My rear RX4 was a tight fit, the post mount eyelet closest to seatstay has almost no clearance to it.
