28C tyres on Dura Ace 9000 Brake Calipers
Moderator: robbosmans
Anyone knows or tried if a 28c tyres fits in the dura ace 9000 brake calipers
(I know it says supports up to 25c officially)
And what are other options for a light and reliable brake caliper to consider? (Apart from the new 9100)
Not sure if SRAM force or Red ones works too??
*My frame can fit up to 30c tyres
Thanks for the insight!

A real 28 should fit, but nothing really bigger. Michelin Power Comp 25 (27 wide, 25,5 high) clears, but not that much clearance left... $$ option would be EE-brakes.

Great! thanks so much
how much clearance you have? like 2-3mm?
I have the exact same tire on a 18mm internal rim, on a CAAD12
gonna give that a try
I suppose it also has to do with the frame itself, especially where the brakes are mounted on the brake bridge / fork. See page 4, a couple of pics of mine, new Michelin power comp 25 on recent bora's. Frame is an 15' Addict.

What matters at least as much as the brake caliper is the actual brake reach required. That will depend on the frame and fork and will vary, especially on many older frames where 23-25 is the largest that won't rub. Some bikes have fork crowns that protrude below the brake caliper - I have a 2008 Lemond like that - which will limit max size, or chainstays with less clearance, short chainstays where the tyre will rub the seat tube and/or FD, etc. It's essential to measure what will actually fit(!), not to rely on what has worked for others in forums!!!
A nominally 28mm tyre might fit in a DA 9000 caliper - just, if its at or close to maximum reach - but it's not only the brake itself that determines that...
