Just built my SLR01 Disc, and went with BikeAhead Biturbo wheels. I previously had them on a Storck Aernario - a bike not known for its comfort - and the ride was rather harsh.
On the BMC they are just perfect: ultra-stiff, wide with 21mm internal width, light for climbing (1150g) and reasonably aero. IMO, they fit the bike aesthetically quite well too. I have nothing but great things to say about BikeAhead customer service, and I'm seriously considering buying a second set for my gravel bike.
is that headcone proprietary with the ICS stem? Seems a lot lower (less stack) than the non-ICS one

EDIT: yes this seems to be the case

- OCD, yes my LBS is steering me away from the C40's, thanks for the heads up.
- TonyM, do the ERC fit well on your SLR01, as I like that depth of rim over the 35. But concerned about clearances.
- JHeiro, the Biturbos look great, and that weight is fantastic. Any data on aero efficiency? Less aero than spokes or more?

Interestingly the DT Swiss Spline 35 wheel-set (that comes with SLR01 One) is approx 80 grams lighter than the DiCut.
I don’t know as I use my DT Swiss wheels on a RoadMachine.

But the ERC are only 2mm wider than the PRC. It will more depend on the tires that you use I suppose.

You can also go for the ARC 48mm as they are 25mm like the PRC.

This is a super cool bike; very modern but seems usable.

The 2019 Teammachines are now listed on the BMC website. Looks like new colors and slight modifications to at least one sub-model (the top level eTap version): https://www.bmc-switzerland.com/int-en/bikes/road/

I love that new Aqua Green colorway.

A few changes I noticed from the 2018 line up. The SLR02 disc is available now with the new R7000 groupset (last year was R8020 and R8070 only). Also, since the 3T Ergonova bars are discontinued, BMC specs the highest level SLR01 builds and their frameset modules with BMC branded carbon bars.

Anyone know if the frameset is exactly the same? I read somewhere that they can accomodate larger than 28mm (measured) tires, but I didn't see any official confirmation on that.

I compared the side views of the top-level frameset between 2018 and 2019 and can only see that the derailleur hanger is different. The rest looks the same, though this is obviously just a surface comparison from a single angle:

2018 https://www.racycles.com/road/bmc/bmc-t ... dule-13884

2019 https://www.bmc-switzerland.com/us-en/b ... _team_red/

You may have read about larger than 28c rear clearance from a post of mine a few weeks ago. I heard this direct from my BMC dealer. Looking forward to learning if it's actually true.

Did the dealer share any weights for the full builds (specifically the Ultegra Di2)?

I know this thread is about the Teammachine, but it looks like BMC also updated their Roadmachine lineup which is very similiar to the Teammachine line.

Notable updates: New colors for 2019, the top spec 2019 RM01 ONE comes with ENVE 4.5s, the RM01 no longer is available as a Ultegra Mechanical build (i.e. previously the RM01 FOUR), the RM02 ONE and RM02 TWO are specced with the ICS stem (though the cables do not route internally which is odd),

It clearly says it towards the bottom of this page.. https://www.bmc-switzerland.com/int-en/ ... _disc-one/

And it has been like this since the new frame was introduced for the 2018 model. So yes, you can fit up to 28mm measured width tires in a 2018 and 2019 Teammachine SLR.

Ah good to know that I'm not missing out. However, it might put off other buyers who want it all... the Tarmac, Emonda, TCR, R5 can all fit 28mm tires, not 28mm measured width. I guess BMC probably won't increase this anytime soon since the Teammachine is their race bike, and they've got the Roadmachine to fulfill the need for those wanting more larger tires.

I'm using the standard DT Swiss Pr1600 disc wheelset with an internal width of 19mm, external of 22mm on Vittoria 25c tyres.

Having searched the market for new wheels it appears there are no good options for upgrades based on my photos for clearance, other than Lightweight Millenstein which has a 24mm external width - and out of my price range! I am not confident from the above and my photos that 28c tyres fit.

Perhaps it is safe to say that the widest I could run is a rim that has an external width of 25mm, internal of 18mm based on what they specify on the SLR01 ONE. That rim is the DT Swiss PR1400 35, however it is not very deep.

What are your thoughts?

I don't understand if the SLR01 2019 (rim brakes) have some tyre clearance improvement, and anyway which is the maximum tyre size clearance ?? I mean effective/measured size.
Thank you very much.

The maximum is 28mm measured width which is most likely not going to be "28mm" tire (more like a 25mm tire on 21mm internal at the very maximum). With my rim brake version, I found that even a 25mm (measured) setup required either special pads or special brake shoes for the front to clear (with DA9000 calipers). Not sure exactly how Team BMC Racing clears the new Dura Ace 28mm tubular rims but apparently they manage..

Yikes on the tire clearance. I am probably buying a 2019 SLR01 Three disc, but replacing a lot of the parts including the wheels-was planning on running Enve 3.4 disc (21mm internal width) with Schwalbe Pro One 25mm, so I will see if they fit when I take the other parts in to swap.

I wonder if they'll release accessories for the new Timemachine ICS stem+bar for the Teammachine like (I believe) Trek did with the Madone. It would only need a headset cone to be compatible. The ICS stem weighs like a brick but I really like the profile of the aero bars which don't have an overy obnoxious flare like like non-integrated OEM ones (3T, Enve, etc)
