Dura Ace 9100/9150 noisier than 9000!

Anyone else finding that properly set up Dura Ace 9100/9150 is louder than the older 9000?
It's only noticeable when in the 52/'big ring' and in the middle gears on the cassette. It is quiet in any cog on the cassette when in the small ring.

Due to it only happening in the big ring I think it might be due to the newer 'Shadow' rear derailleur which has more spring tension and I think is pulling the chain harder on to the cassette.

I'm using a Dura Ace 901 chain on an Ultegra cassette. I haven't tried a 900 chain but I am tempted to put the Dura Ace 9100 cassette back on and see if that is any different.

Anyone else experienced this or have tried any other options?

Check if your wheel is mounted straight. And if your RD hanger is straight.

Its one of the typical problems when anyone describes something like that.

I have 9070 Di2 and 9100 mechanical with identical gearing and chains. The 9100 is every bit as silent.

I went from 9000 to 9100 and can't tell a difference.

I was also wondering about this. Don't know about 9000, but my 9100 is loud on the big ring, at least louder than my 7900 and 5800.

I've moved the derailleur back away from the cassette. It's a little slower shifting but quieter.

I've just replaced the chain at 3300km which is less k's than I used to get out of 9000 but I have done one or two wet rides so could be down to that.

LOL same issue. at first i thought it was a setup issue. the main issue is new derailleur design is very unforgiving with chains too long or short. i installed a new chain with length calculated with the big ring, big rear cog + 2 links. drivetrain is a lot quieter on the big ring. imho shimano took a step backward with the new design.

Yep I agree with this because the B-Screw makes a big difference to noise level also. Next time I put a chain on I'll remeasure it.
Are you on a M/L? Any idea how many links you have?

I like to have the B-Screw nice and close for fast shifting but it definitely runs quieter further away. I run my 9000 RD much closer.

I had a lot of inconsistent clicking, which I thought was also drive train related but turned out to be bits of carbon and plastic inside the rim. It must be from manufacture. Was very annoying to track down. I like the SLR wheels which come with the TCR but that's a mark agents them.

I have the same noise on my 9150 setup and it is noticeably louder than my 9070 setup. I think it may be due to greater chain to cassette contact because of the greater chain wrap of the 9150 RD.
