Anyone have experience doing this?

Upgrading a vintage classic, which has very low use and a stuck Dura Ace 7700 shift lever.

Plan changing the rear wheel hub, shift levers, rear derailleur, cassette and chain with Ultegra 6800, however leaving the DA7700 chain set and front derailleur as is.

I measured an Ultegra chain ring set with a caliper and it appears as if the spacing in between rings are the same as the 9 speed DA7700.

10 speed would also be okay, use it myself with a 5800 RD. I once used an 11 speed chain with 8spd and that did not quite work out.

I was unable to get reliable front shifting with the 7700 front derailleur and crankset in combination with 10 and 11S chains.

I should add that I use the above combo on my commuter "built from spare parts bikes " so I'm fine if the shifting is not a 100%.

Build is complete. Luckily the shifting is perfect. No adjustments to the front derailleur was needed. It shifts with the new 6800 Ultegra lever and 11 speed chain exactly as the 9 speed Dura Ace did.

Vintage bike upgraded with a Dura Ace/ Ultegra 11 speed mix.
