No they don't keep air as long but thats because they're more supple and ride much smoother.

not even close.
First day i tried it lose 20psi out. But after it settle for a while it now lose about 10psi per 24 hours (still depend on temperature change too) which is not bad but still require a pump before every ride which i do regardless of tube type as temperature change also change butyl tube's pressure too.

for patching, cut old latex tube to be patcher. it work better than butyl patcher.

on some tire you'll also feel more supple to ride with. As Mep said.

I saved a ton of weight by going from 105 to Sram Rival. The 105 brifters are VERY heavy!

As others have mentioned wheels bars and saddle. Speaking of tough, my AX Lightness Sprint saddle was bought in 2006 from another member that bought it and it didn't work for them. 11 years later its still my daily rider. For the $200 I paid and the 11 years of use and still going I would say its tough and inexpensive. There is a member here on a Sprint that is a couple of years older than mine.

Kalloy Uno stem. Around 100g if you swap in ti bolts. 30 bucks or so. Tough, logos come off easily.

That Kalloy Stem is a great deal. What wheel recommendations are there? Seems like Kinlin built rims? From where that's a good source?

Simple and safe? I will add cheap. My top 3
- bar tape: stretched and minimum overlap. From 80g out of the shop to 42 now (reusing it)
- veloplugs rather than rim tape.
- inner tube from 90 for basic default ones down to 65 or 70 for 15$

If you don't want to run Latex, Conti Supersonic tubes @ 55g will keep air much better and won't get any more punctures than a 100g tube.

There is no valid reason to worry about which side of the front wheel the QR lever is on.

The reason people think it matters is because that is what race teams do. If you don't have a team mechanic in a car behind you, ready to quick-change a wheel... ride it however you like.

It's more aero to put it on the drive-side.***
