To my defense and after 10 months along with with the SK, I can only provide positive comments on any aspect from riding behavior to quality and pride of ownership. Never ridden any version of the Oltre thought.

Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback and the PM's with additional pics. But, as it turns out, looks like I'm headed in a different direction :unbelievable:

Part of it was that I was not going to be able to hold and see either of these frames in the flesh let alone test ride either. So after some thought, some real hands on testing, personal feedback/stories from my fellow club riders on our rides, and I will be honest an unbelievable deal from my LBS, I'm going with another bike. Nre thread to follow

I think that, sk is more than beutiful and good bike as oltre bike.
But your riding style is allround type or climb type, oltre is better than for hou.
I think that, Derosa sk is awesome aero bike.

I'll lean towards XR4. CV works as I have a specialissima with CV. Subtle and compliant ride.

If I had to choose one, I would buy xr4 cause ,as for me, it looks better and more comfortable than SK.

Both bikes are beauties, here's a pic side to side of my Oltre and a friend's SK from a social ride last weekend.. this was my first long (170km) ride on the Oltre (snow finally off the roads) and it was completely comfortable.

The SK needs to be purchased smaller than you usual size because the top tube is really long.

The DeRosa is a better looking bike. That's a win!

Significantly fewer reviews on the web for the De Rosa (and the brand in general) as compared to the Oltre XR4.

Just means De Rosa's marketing dept. are throwing less money/freebies at bike review websites than Bianchi. Not a solid reason to choose one bike over the other.

Also mentioning Countervail as a +1 is following the marketing dept. lead, especially when considering De Rosa have their "Harmonic Active Damping" which is (marketed as) basically the same technology...just not marketed so well

Counterveil is a patented composite material that Bianchi pay a significant amount of money to access. As far as I'm aware, they are the only bicycle company that have paid to access the material. It does make a significant difference to the ride and is not simply vacuous marketing. Nevertheless the marketing claims do exaggerate its efficacy. Your scepticism about marketing and reviews is kinda extreme and a little irrational. One should definitely take press releases and reviews with a grain or even a handful of salt, but denialism leaves you bankrupt.

I read so much about the "benefits" of Counterveil that it makes me very suspicious of the benefits
