How big? IMHO no hi-end road bike needs anything bigger than 25mm. Unless you ride on cobbles or something...

The current Tarmac already clears large tires. The rear brake pads are close to the bottom of the slots. My 25mm tires are a little over 27mm on wide rims and there's room for more.

If you need more tire you are on the wrong bike.

My friend runs 28mm tires on his 17 Tarmac. I'd say that's plenty.

or Mavic Speed Release thru-axle system which has been also adopted by Enve now (same company)

That review is a little outdated. Specialized got rid of their SCS system, now it's standard wheel spacing. Any 135QR wheel will work now.

Manufacturers have been moving away from QR's in last 2 seasons. I doubt we will see disc frames with QR's on 2018 frames. Same goes for post-mount (4 year old technology).

2016 Tarmac disc clear 30mm Schwalbe Pro One tire. Trek Domane disc comes with Bontrager R3 32mm tire with room to spare.

Ok that's what I was thinking also. Will wait for the 2018 models.
When does Specialized inform the dealers?

On a related topic, I'd like to see them spec a rim brake Venge again, in a configuration that the average cyclist can actually afford. With disc-only and high-end builds, I bet they sold tens of Venge's this year.
